This is a very historic inn.I had planned to eat too much for lunch, so I booked a light course for dinner, but I still ended up with salt-grilled sweetfish, horse sashimi, and river crab hotpot. The futons are fluffy and the rooms are clean, making it a great choice for hot spring lovers who don't want new things.

It is said to be the oldest inn building in Yamagata Prefecture. The old-fashioned main building is very atmospheric. Currently, we are not accepting day trip bathers and are only open for overnight stays. …

A traditional inn in Semi Onsen. The inside looks like an active museum.

The 1,000-person bath at an old-fashioned inn was very nice, and the food was delicious and you could relax.

This is a Japanese treasure! It doesn't matter if there's no one at the counter when you arrive, the screen door won't close, or junk is left behind. There's just one thing I'm trying to do (described later), but it's temporary so there's nothing I can do about it.Maybe in six months, I'll want to go back to see Bread and Shrinks, Grandma and the dog, Kintaro, the bear, Kewpie, and the raccoon dog at the entrance.・・・・・・・・・PS...Please do something about the smell in the men's restroom in front of the laundry area at the back of the main building! The restroom near the guest room is being renovated, so it may have been opened temporarily, but I thought my nose would be crooked! (Just to make sure the smell doesn't reach outside (lol))

The oldest wooden inn in Yamagata PrefectureThe interior of the building, which was expanded during the Taisho and Showa periods, is like a labyrinth. There are baths in both the annex and the main building, so if you try to go back to your room after entering both, you might get lost. Not only the architecture, but also the bathrooms and interior design have high value as cultural assets, and you will be captivated no matter where you look, making this an inn that will make you want to stay for several nights.

I stayed at the main building on the "easy plan (breakfast included)".The screen door had deteriorated and wouldn't close properly, so a large number of insects such as winged ants and small insects came in because they were attracted to the light in the room.Bug Connors is hanging but it has no effect. (It should only work on midges)The hostess and staff at the front desk will not give you detailed information on which baths to use or when you can bathe, so it's fun to explore the facility on your own.The Dutch bath, which is only available to hotel guests, had the most hot spring scent compared to other baths, perhaps because the amount of water added was small.I couldn't take a bath in a Roman bath because it was as hot as boiling water. The temperature in the men's bath next door was just right, but the water had no distinctive features, like fresh water, probably because they had added a lot of stream water.Unfortunately, the skyscraper area on the 3rd floor of the annex on the hotel map is closed, so you cannot enter the romance bath or open-air bath listed on the map.During the summer vacation, it is used as a lodging place for driving license training camps at Shinjo's driving school, and there were several guests who appeared to be university students at the breakfast venue.I think it would be difficult to maintain a building like this with a small number of people.Inns that were modeled after Spirited Away tend to get a lot of attention, such as the metal fittings shop in Shibu Onsen and Sekizenkan in Shima Onsen, but I think this place has equal, if not even greater, value as a cultural property.

This inn is located in Semi Onsen, a quiet hot spring village deep in the mountains of Yamagata. This time I stayed overnight, but they also accept day trip bathers. After all, the highlight is the large public bath, Senninburo. A circular bathtub spreads out around the pillar. The hot water is a good temperature and easy to get into, and surprisingly they even have soaps. Please note that the large public bath is a mixed bath. This time I stayed in the main building, which was apparently built during the Taisho era. The room was simple and had no air conditioner. This time I stayed in early July, but it wasn't particularly hot as long as I slept with the windows open. This is a hot spring inn that you should definitely visit at least once.
