I was interested in this campsite so I stopped by.Cars and motorcycles are not allowed, but the campsite is right next to the parking lot, so carrying your luggage will not be a problem. There is water and toilets. It is close to the town so shopping is OK. You can take a bath at the hotel which is just a short walk away.

When going from Kitami City to Asahikawa City during a bicycle trip! Used to adjust time for crossing Sekihoku Pass!I want to avoid sunset on the way ~ 🐻No reservations required, free of charge, no administration building, no vending machines! The walk to the hot spring town 😂

I went from May 24th to 26th. The toilets are clean, and the kitchen is dark at night so there must be some lighting. The lawn has many potholes, so you have to be careful. The campground was very crowded on the weekend. Trailers and campers also came, but we couldn't get them in, so we had to park in a large parking lot nearby. After all, it's free and no reservations are required, so it's best to plan your visit carefully as spots are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Surrounded by forests, I could hear the murmuring of the river and the cicadas were a little noisy, but I was able to spend a comfortable time there. In 2024, much has changed due to the Muka River construction.

Free campsite without reservationHokkaido camping is the best campsite for touring riders. The kitchen and toilets are well maintained. The hot springs can be accessed at a nearby inn. It's a somewhat deserted hot spring town. The parking lot is small, but it's right next door. You can pitch a tent there. There were several camper vans occupying the parking lot, but I was lucky that they were gone.I came from the Abashiri direction, and even though there wasn't that much traffic, I was tired of seeing so many traffic lights 😓There may have been the most riders on this camping tour. They are all older people (lol)Here's a quick story: An old man at the Silver Human Resources Center was cleaning the toilets. Brown bears don't like mountains. They move along rivers instead of on slopes. If they pitch a tent, they should stay away from the river. People in cities spend several months at countless campgrounds. There are many of them who have no choice but to come because they don't have a place to stay at home.We heard a lot of stories about things like bringing toilet paper with you.

Until more than 10 years ago, I had the impression that it was a free and cozy campground typical of Hokkaido in a quiet area away from the city, but when I stayed there in 2022, I realized that it was like other free campsites in Hokkaido these days, avoiding the hot Honshu. It has become a gathering place for elderly people who have had too much time to spend in their cars, and I stayed there as a rider traveler, and found it to be a very uncomfortable campsite, with noise from cars coming in and out late at night and early mornings, and selfish people occupying the kitchen. It was becoming. Some people staying in their cars for a long time store their container boxes, camera tripods, etc. in multiple parking spaces, pretending that they have their own parking space, and when they go out during the day. I saw several people leaving their items unattended due to space considerations. The manners of elderly people staying in their cars for long periods in Hokkaido are so bad that I can't stand them.

I used it on a solo bike trip in July 2023.I decided to stay here because it was close to a convenience store and hot springs, and when I set up my tent, a lot of bees came to visit. It might have been because of the color of the tent, but they kept coming even if I changed places, but I had a little patience and stayed the night. It is close from the parking lot to the tent site, but there is a little distance from the park entrance to the tent site parking lot.For hot springs, we used Hotel Tsuzujiso.

I use it for decanting.I think it's a well-maintained and comfortable place.I appreciate that the restrooms are spacious and clean, and there is a fee for changing diapers, so I can use the restrooms with my small children. It's a large place with a slightly elevated area and playground equipment (like athletics?), so I don't think people will get bored even with children.I personally recommend it.
