This part of the vacation was to slow down and enjoy the countryside! Without this kind of stay, we wouldn’t have enjoyed Japan as much. The couple, Akira and Nono, really work together to host the stay from picking you at the train station to making meals. They take the time to eat the meals with you, as well. We really enjoyed getting to know the Japanese people and to be part of the same household.. They were kind in many countless ways and we are grateful for that experience! We highly recommend a visit to appreciate their hospitality and the countryside!

A beautiful meeting. Another side of traditional Japan.A parenthesis in our discovery of Japan which seemed to us to be living at full speed.A beautiful moment of sharing when preparing meals, during meals and when discovering the countryside and its inhabitants.Akira & Nono are sincere and kind.Go there with your eyes closed.

Akira-san and Nono-san were extremely hospitable towards my girlfriend and I! We Came looking for a lovely traditional rural Japanese experience, away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities in Japan, and we left feeling more than satisfied. We enjoyed cooking with Akira-san and Nono-san and will be using their recipes and advice once we get home!We rented e-bikes (a must if you are here for more than one night) and cruised around the town and visited local cafes and restaurants. We were provided an in depth guide on where to eat during the day, and had plenty of options. We also chose to partake in the tea farm experience, which was extremely interesting and we would highly recommend it to those who are contemplating it.Akira san was there to welcome us at Ayabe station upon arrival and was more than happy to accommodate us for drop off as well. The service we got from these two is unparalleled! For those concerned about a language barrier, don't be! Both Akira-san and Nono-san's english were great and we were able to have interesting conversations with them over dinner. We were also able to ask them any questions we had.All in all, a great experience and worth every penny!

The boss and his wife are very enthusiastic, treat the land seriously and friendly, and suggest that you can arrange a trip to integrate into the local life. The residents here are very warm and friendly, and it is recommended that you stay in the countryside for one night!!!

Apart from trying to experience Japanese farm life, we were looking for practical skill set on the cultivation of moss garden. The hosts were helpful to reach out to local network of moss growers, source technical publication and liaise to coordinate interviews in a structured schedule. My wife also enjoyed sharing the food preparation based upon many local ingredients. After all, chatting and eating around the sunken hearth together with the two hosts was a unique experience no parallel with any of our travelling experience in the past.

We had a very special 2 nights at Chabu Dining. I came with my husband, two young boys (one is 5 years old, the other 9 months old) and my parents. We all stayed on the tatami mats in Akira and Nono’s beautiful house, enjoyed a wonderful walking tour and tea ceremony and cooked and ate our meals together. Both mornings we woke up to snow - magical! Such a wonderful insight into Japanese rural culture.

Akira and Nono are very caring hosts. Our time on the farm was truly delightful, and we appreciated gaining insights into Japanese food and farming experience. Getting to know the super kind neighbor and the persimmon harvesting at owner’s neighbor farm was also wonderful experience. The freshness and incredible taste of the rice and vegetables made it a truly memorable culinary journey during our trip.

It was a very special and interesting experience. The owner of the B&B is very kind and attentive to my needs. Participating in the farming and one-dish cooking experience helped me better understand the self-sufficient life of Japanese farmers. The food for dinner and breakfast was very simple and delicious, I loved it. Although it was the cold season at the end of November, the electric heating blankets and thick quilts they provided kept me warm enough and I slept well. The restrooms and bathrooms are also clean and hygienic, worth recommending!
