I stayed in a special room called En-no-ma with an open-air bath. There was a cockpit jet in the shared washroom, which was a little uncomfortable. Also, the entrance is very dirty. Shoes are scattered. The food was average. Considering the amount, it's about ⭐︎2.The room itself is quiet and there is nothing in it, so it's a good place to take a relaxing soak in the hot springs and refresh yourself. Please note that if you make a reservation online, you can only use cash.

I stayed at Raku no Ma.This is an irresistible inn for those who like remote inns that value the quality of the water. It was winter in the mountains of Nagano, so it was very cold, but I was able to relax under the kotatsu. It's an old inn and a bit run down, but it's been kept clean. I love rustic inns, so I was very happy with the retro cigarette vending machine (maybe not working?) and the nostalgic public bath. The meals are full of hospitality, focusing on local cuisine. When we arrived at the dining venue, the food from the first flight had already been served (there were two dishes that were served later).I thought the grilled fish would be cold anyway, but when I put my chopsticks into it, the steam rose and I was able to eat it while it was still warm.It seems natural to calculate meal times and prepare meals so that they can be eaten hot, but there are very few hotels that do this, so I appreciate your thoughtfulness.I felt a sense of happiness in the quality of the white rice and the deliciousness of the miso soup.I was happy that they took into account my request when making a reservation in advance.morning of departureMy car was buried in snow due to heavy snowfall, so I had the hostess help me remove the snow and get my car out, which was very helpful!People who write low reviews are strange customers who have misunderstood something.Enjoy freshly prepared local cuisine.100% hot springs from the source in a historical space. That alone will satisfy hot spring enthusiasts. It is only natural that the temperature of the source is hot since it is a direct source of water. If you don't like that, I recommend choosing a hot spring inn with a circulation system. If you want to receive luxurious food and hospitalityYou should stay at a resort hotel that costs more than 50,000 yen per night.Shibu Onsen is a good old retro hot spring. If you cannot tolerate the aging of buildings or the inconvenience of old buildings, please reconsider staying at Shibu Onsen.People suitable for this accommodationAnyway, focus on the quality of the spring water.I like the sense of security that makes me feel like I'm back at my grandma's house.I like nostalgic and remote inns.I want to enjoy Nagano's food culture and local cuisine.People who are not suitable for this accommodationI want to be treated perfectly as a guest.I want to have a luxurious and luxurious meal.People who think that 20,000 yen per person per night for a special room is expensive.I like luxurious inns.I would definitely like to stay again.

The room was extremely spacious and kept us warm even at -10° outside thanks to extra heaters and cozy futons provided. Our private outdoor onsen was very warm and could be used even during coldest times (you can easily add cooler water if you feel like it is too hot). Lunch and dinner consisted of many many small plates continuously served and prepared with great care, which we enjoyed a lot (even if you don't enjoy every single dish served, you will have enough food). The couple running the ryokan helped us with small requests and was very attentive. Location in the middle of Shibu Onsen is perfect for visiting the Onsens, and it's easy to find transportation to the Snow Monkey Park and Ski resorts.Overall, we've had a great experience, and we were very positively surprised, especially given that our stay was booked last-minute and not very expensive.

Amazing! We had a wonderful time here and I wish we could have stayed one more night. The service is excellent and the food is as well. The baths in the ryokan are beautiful and so nice! Would recommend and would come back!

I was really surprised by the bad reviews for this ryokan because my experience was great. I think the building was older and not high-end but I think it was very good for the cost. The food was delicious and I really enjoyed the tempura date at dinner and the coffee jelly at breakfast. Breakfast was especially delicious. Both meals were very filling. The fruit was also so sweet and excellent. The ryokan was not busy so it was easy to use the outdoor private bath. There was also no time limit so we could enjoy it slowly without any rush. The temperature was very hot at first (too hot for my and my partner) but we turned on the cold water tap and the temperature improved. You could see many stars in the sky above the bath. The only thing I did not like was that the private bath did not have its own shower. We first had to go to the public bath to shower (shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided) before going to the private bath. But I got to try the public indoor bath too and the temperature was good.Overall while it was a simpler, older ryokan, it was very good for the price and I really enjoyed my time there. If you want a good ryokan experience without paying exorbitant luxury prices, I would recommend it.

I stayed at Yen no Ma.The room was spacious, the toilet was clean, and the open-air bath attached to the room felt larger and more luxurious than the baths attached to the rooms at other hot spring hotels.I was surprised to find such a price for a room with an open-air bath!We can't hide the age of many places, but let's take it as quaint.I think it's sufficient considering the price.I think there may be bad weather, so I would like a roof over the bathroom in the room...Also, I'd like to hang out after breakfast, so please don't put away the futon without my permission.*Entering the guest's room without permission is not acceptable! ! !Well, even if I deduct that, I would still give it 5 stars (lol)The food was rich in variety and satisfying.Local soba dish? It was delicious.I would like to go again if I have a chance.
