I stayed here because there were no other hotels available that I could book for a large group. The room was old and had cracks, stains, and mold, and even though it was cold, there was a strong smell of kerosene, and the walls were surprisingly thin. When I was in the room, I could hear the sounds of the people living next door, although no one was making noise. It was said that there was a public bath, but it wasn't working when I stayed there so I couldn't use it.The parking lot is small and you have to change parking lots every time, and the road to the inn is a very narrow slope, so it was quite difficult to use by car.It was so cold inside the building that we had to wear outerwear the entire time. The staff are docile and quiet, but perhaps because they are all seasonal part-time workers, they are unreliable and lack hospitality. The meals were cheap, instant and simple, which was disappointing.

Nice building! This inn is managed by a group of young people over the world! They was very helpful! The atmosphere of this inn was good! The rooms price was acceptable, but need to improve a little bit more in the room cleanliness! Keep Goin!

Had a very pleasant stay at this inn run by Henry and his team on international assignees.. Yuna. Miki. Taiyo. Luka. Though young.. their willingness as a friend to help was a pleasure. To start off with.. this is like a home based Japanese style inn.. (so don’t go comparing it to some niseko luxury hotel) I find it comfortable enough and their duvet was the most amazing. Although the futon was a little thin for me 😅. Common toilets were ok and the hot water tub was hot enough for me. Breakfast consists of egg station. Pancakes station. Yakisoba. Quite some pastries. Coffee all day. Cereals.. yogurt. I was happy. But the defining factor would have to be the people running the place. And the help and service they rendered.. I hurt my back and they were kind enough, offering to bring me to and fro from the clinic. Ate a wrong dose of Japanese medication and they helped me call the clinic 😅..so my stay had been special because of the warm hearts of this team with Henry. Thanks again for the wonderful memories.Uway

Amazing spot - staff are all very friendly and always felt welcome and relaxed at the lodge. Onsen was in great working order (although you also have a bunch of great options in the village alongside this.) Location is great, few steps away from anything you need - we will be back soon!!

We just wrapped up our 3 night stay at Toemu Nozawa. In general I would have no problem rebooking another stay here. The service staff were attentive, inviting and warm upon arrival and throughout the stay. Some examples of hospitality include:1. They offered to come pick us up at liyama station when we thought we may be stuck because of the earthquake2. They gave us a thorough tour upon arrival3. They offer warm breakfast daily - be sure to check the operating hours (eggs, pancakes, juice, yogurt cereal)4. I hurt my ankle and asked for something to elevate my leg and they were quick to accommodate with more pillows to the room.5. Upon checking out it was raining and we got offered a ride to the bus stop only a 5 minute walk away. We didn’t take the offer but it was a kind gesture. The location is very close to the village, restaurants, shops and ski resort which is what we loved most.If you choose to stay at this lodge there are a few things to be aware of to ensure your expectations are met. 1. There is a bit of noise through the walls (if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs) we got very lucky with a corner unit with a beautiful view of the mountains and only shared one wall. The noise as described in other reviews didn’t bother us one bit.2. While I didn’t use the shower amenities as I went showered at a local onsen during my stay, I didn’t have any issues with shared bathroom amenities. I would recommend grabbing a small towel from downstairs to use as a personal hand/face towel for your stay.3. The wifi was really spotty during our stay. Not reliable if you are there for work. As this was a stay for pleasure this was no issue for usDuring my stay I saw many families who looked to be enjoying their stay. Thanks for the hospitality!

I'm still currently here on my third day, with 3 more to go, but my stay experience has been currently consistent, so I want to share the experience as I am receiving it.This place is a nice, friendly, and safe place to stay, as you'd expect in Japan. It's run by a great team of staff from around the world, some are Japanese and many are from across the world, proving to be very welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast is a nice bonus to get you ready for the day on the snow. A great range of food, including cooked eggs of your choice. It's located very close to the snow resort lifts and the main areas in town to eat. It's a perfect midway point.Definitely will be back next season in Jan and stay here if I have a chance to.Some people will compare it with backpackers, as I can see that a bit, but this is an inn and a more self-serve b&b at a ski resort! However, people expect this place to be a hotel when it is clearly not, and the staff here are mostly seasonal. People need to get real with the expectations. This place is a relaxed place and if you need help, the team are more than happy to assist.*The owner is a great guy from New Zeland who also manages the place. He is operating this place well, keeping it as a traditional Japanese inn or as people better know it a B&B.
