The so-called superior room in the castle tower is an imposition. From the reception there were 48 steps up to the tower area. In the room the sun was shining on the bare window panes without any protection. One of the 2 beds was slightly slanted, which of course was not natural for lying down. The mattresses were not good. The room is generously sized, but equipped with furniture that you would otherwise find at a second-hand dealer. The cupboard door had to be held on one side because it automatically closed due to the tilted floor. The bathroom was very small, only suitable for one person. In the shower you always messed with the shower walls. But the shower head itself was good. The entrance to the bathroom had a tripping hazard of approx. 5 cm. There was a risk of injury. The room overall was very shabby. You could hear the proximity of the highway all night long. The laughter and conversations in the outdoor restaurant area could be heard until 11:15 p.m. We changed rooms the following day, which wasn't a problem, and chose a normal room, which was very small, but at least the mattresses were good. The bathroom was neatly equipped, although there was a serious lack of shelves. When I asked at reception how the castle rooms could be given 4 stars that deserved a maximum of 2 stars, I was told that the castle rooms were larger. We also know that renovations need to be made there, but it won't happen that quickly and the 4 stars were awarded by a neutral party. Who was that? The breakfast room is very small. For this reason you had to specify the time at which you wanted to have breakfast. As you can see, that was understandable. The breakfast itself and the staff there, a very friendly man and a young woman were the highlight of the hotel. 5 stars for that. The restaurant is very nice. We were amazed at the absolutely inappropriate music in these rooms. Because of the high heat, even in these rooms, we each ordered a beer. I actually wanted to order wine with the main course. What was brought to us was noticeably far too warm. I took a sip and immediately let the beer go back. The new beer was a little cooler, but nowhere near how a good beer should be served. Here too I took two sips and then left the glass standing. It was unacceptable. The main course, pork tenderloin, was of good quality, well prepared but underseasoned. To add more seasoning, I first had to ask the waitress to please bring us some salt and pepper. Why isn't something like this on the table right away?My wife asked for another dessert. It was a bit complicated, but in the end it should work. After a good 20 minutes the waiter came and asked if we would like dessert. Yes, please. He brought my wife and I what was supposed to be served normally and not what was agreed upon with the waitress. This now required another explanation, which was already given to the waitress. My dessert has already been left behind. The waitress appeared and said, sorry, the colleague was unfortunately faster than her. Of course that wasn't true, because it took another 10 minutes. Finally, we were offered a digestif, which we politely declined. When I left I told the staff that it was a shame that drinks were not served at an appropriate temperature, which unfortunately was not of good gastronomic quality. That's also the reason why I didn't want to order anything else, because the wine at the next table was visibly not cold enough. The waitress grimaced and said that she had already changed the dessert and offered us a digestif. She now wanted to book out the drinks, which we didn't want. The waitress's comment on the way to the checkout, but audible to us. “And you work your ass off for it.”No further comment necessary.

Very nice location. 4 star hotel. Service and staff very friendly. The castle rooms are beautifully decorated. Senseo machine in the room to wake you up in the morning. Very nice knight's hall for dinner. The bathroom, very clean and modernly furnished. The breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired, everything you need when you're hungry. 😉👍.We had booked a three day trip. And are very satisfied. Worth a recommendation.

We were guests for two days.Thank you for the great welcome and the good service. Why two stars? Food and rooms so that you stay but don't come back. We are talking about 500 euros plus for two days. Other hotels simply deliver better in terms of location and cuisine

Review of Burg StaufenbergOur charming room was a suite up two flights of wide spiral stairs with a beautiful view out over the countryside. We had all modern conveniences within a picturesque old castle – parts of it dating from 13th century and parts from 15th century. Do not miss dinner in the Knights Celler dining room. Suits of armor and halberds and pikes in a beautiful vaulted ceiling celler room. There were real candles and flowers on the table.  My husband had the pork fillet in creamy herb sauce with mushrooms and noodle dumplings. It was amazing and I had the vegetarian choice which was asparagus ravioli with fresh buffalo mozzarella - equally delicious! Service was in German or English and very friendly.Breakfast was set in a cheery ground floor dining room with scrambled eggs, nurnberger sausages, pancakes, and lots of cold cuts and fruit, etc.We both enjoyed our stay very much.

We altered our plans to come to visit Burg Stauffenberg on our way from Berlin to Paris. What we found surprised & delighted us. Our suite was huge, with canopy king bed, fridge, and vast view of the valley below.  …

Four of us stayed at the Burghotel Staufenberg for a weekend and were really impressed. Great atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff. The half-board dinner in the Ritterkeller was first-class, served in “suitable clothing”. The breakfast buffet including non-alcoholic grape secco was also very good. Here too, the service staff were very attentive and you could really enjoy the first meal of the day, accompanied by relaxing piano music. The rooms are decorated in a castle style but contemporary. Large flat-screen TV, refrigerator, modern bathroom and a great view. Only the parking situation may be a bit tense, but that is due to the location and not a negative point of criticism. In any case, an unreserved recommendation from us and we will definitely come back!
