The Lauterbach youth hostel (Hesse) is surrounded by forests and meadows, with various facilities for leisure activities. There is e.g. B. the opportunity to sit in the stone circle around the campfire in the evening. It's just wonderful. There are also tables, benches and chairs outside.The service is very friendly.The rooms are practically furnished and kept simple. You can rent group rooms.There are a variety of games available to borrow and everything you need for ball and table tennis games.Playground, basketball hoop and soccer field - everything is available on the youth hostel grounds.The connection to local public transport could still be improved. Otherwise everything was great! There were 21 people there and everyone was very satisfied.

We were your guests for a week with 2 groups of children and felt very comfortable. The otherwise rather tasteless food that we usually find in youth hostels exceeded all of our expectations. A particularly large and fresh selection was offered at the salad buffet. Vegetarian and vegan delicacies could be easily booked upon request. There was consistently positive feedback about the food from our children and carers. At this point, many thanks again to the kitchen team. The service also left nothing to be desired. We have rarely had the opportunity to meet such flexible and absolutely friendly staff in a youth hostel. No matter what concern we approached you with, you had a solution and an open ear. Thanks so much. The kiosk with all sorts of goodies and little toys was particularly well received by our kids. The large but well-arranged outdoor area invited the children to play and run around, so that they would often have liked to be outside longer in the evening.The rooms were also clean and tidy when we arrived.There is a lot to discover in Lauterbach and the surrounding area and we were able to offer the children a nice leisure program. For example, the swimming pool, an alpaca hike or simply a tour through Lauterbach were very popular with the children.We thank you for your warm and friendly manner, keep it up. Thank you so much.

Location on the edge of the forest with huge areas for playing and relaxing. Good food, even for the children. Rooms were small but sufficient for a weekend.

Finally a youth hostel that has arrived in the present of eating habits. As a vegetarian, it was no problem at all to get great, tasty and balanced food. Even as a vegan you would have been very satisfied. The food was delicious, the staff was ALWAYS friendly and understanding. The kids had a great time! Always happy :)

Great, very friendly and helpful management team. Food above average for JH standards. Lots of regional and fair trade products. The location close to nature enables a wide and competent range of programs that are excellently linked to the JH. I will come back.

A very nice youth hostel, we felt comfortable! The rooms were clean and had a nice view of the greenery. There is a few play equipment around the house, but above all there is plenty of space. You can sit in the sun in the spacious courtyard. Above all, the food was excellent. There was always something tasty that made the children happy, warm for lunch and dinner, and a wonderful salad buffet. Big compliment to the kitchen!!The staff is very friendly and helpful.The town of Lauterbach is also beautiful: lots of half-timbered buildings and well-preserved historical buildings, there is a lot to discover. There is also a nice playground in the old town, next to the local café. In just under 30 minutes you can reach the Hohenrodskopf, where you have a breathtaking view and where there are many activities (climbing forest, summer toboggan run, etc.). The trip there was very worth it.Unfortunately, the rooms are very noisy and since we were staying right next to a youth group, it wasn't quiet until after midnight. The games room is not recommended, it is in a rather musty basement room where you don't want to spend time.All in all a lovely stay!

I'll never go there again! My class and I spent a week (school trip) there. These were my experiences:Let's start with the rooms. Unless you have an eighth room you are pretty cramped. That wouldn't actually be the case, since the four rooms are specially equipped with bunk beds, but of course the management team had to put a FIFTH bed in the place where there would be a little space to move around. Let's be honest: why the hell would you put five beds in a room of four?Bathrooms: In every room there was a toilet and shower inside the room. Except in room 012. The room's bathroom is opposite the room. But this is an advantage because the bathroom was definitely 5 times larger than the ones in the rooms. However, in the end it doesn't matter which bathroom you get, as long as it is clean - and that's it! The bathroom was nicely swept and freed from any spider webs etc.WiFi and sockets: I promise you that you have never had such bad WiFi. It's not even enough to send someone a message via WhatsApp... There were only 2 sockets per room, so if you plan to go to a multi-person room, bring at least 1 extension cable!Kitchen: When we tried to serve us pasta with tomato sauce and parmesan, we had pasta with tomato-infused water and cheese straight from the employees' feet! However, the salad and Bavarian cream were delicious! 20 minutes to eat right (McDonalds)Staff: Everyone welcomed us very nicely - especially Ingo! :) But of course Constantin comes around the corner and spoils our fun... (always looking at everyone angrily and quickly losing patience is probably his trademark...)500-1000 euros if the fire alarm is activated? Understandable! 75 euros for a lost key? I think it's hacking!Program: Off to the forest! We were only told this when we arrived. Almost all of the girls only had short pants and hardly any long socks. The ticks were really happy... In the forest we played some games from kindergarten, which, as you can imagine, was 6-8. graders, not much fun. As a tip: look for age-appropriate things to play with. Don't let 14-year-old children do "trust exercises" (falling backwards so that someone else can catch them). We did something like that in the third grade in the playground!!!Maybe that's also due to the program we chose, because I noticed that other classes also did archery...In short: If I had to go here again and I got 10,000 euros for it, I wouldn't do it.
