Conveniently located hotel near Alsfeld. From the front the hotel looks chic and cozy. The staff were all super committed and friendly, both at reception and at breakfast.Unfortunately, my room wasn't as great. I took another look at the website to see if I was actually in the right hotel; the rooms there look relatively new and chic. My room was ancient, dark - two 80 cm wide single beds that you could almost fall out of, a dark, historic bathroom that was probably 20 years old - quite clean, only in the shower all the joints were moldy, the shower hose was broken and the water pressure was a disaster.The breakfast was actually ok in terms of food and offerings, but in a totally old hotel lobby, completely uncomfortable with a view of two demolished houses in the backyard. This was probably once a business center with rooms that could be divided. Why not adapt the size to the number of guests - every youth hostel can do this more comfortably.The restaurant was new and suitably rustic and cozy. Again, very friendly service.I was looking forward to the promising menu, but that evening was taco night. Everything was really well done, in addition to the taco chips with 3 different really well-made dips as a starter, there were a variety of tacos in several courses. They were all well made, especially the last one with an Asian touch and kimchi was excellent. It was just a little too much for me - I only managed to get the filling out of the last tacos. The gentleman at the next table felt the same way and his wife gave up long before the end. The dessert counter looked great, but I couldn't make it. I would like to eat a la carte here again.

Fantastic Staff who go out of their way to help with both food and room. We had breakfast that had everything you could want, in the evening we ate absolutely incredible dishes, all four of us. We can only give 5 plus for everything. Perfect stopover if you are traveling from the north down towards Austria.

We are allowed to visit here from time to time on business from Berlin and traveling further south. We usually arrive on site at night - no problem! Keyboy. 5 minutes from the motorway exit and yet sometimes only frogs making music spoil the nighttime silence. Every now and then I went for a run in the morning hours - 10km across the adjacent fields, across one or two farms - no problem!The engaging friendliness is second to none. An exemplary anecdote: missed breakfast due to one's own fault. Everything was cleared away and the service staff ate the well-deserved morning meal together - regardless, everything was put back together again with inspiring friendliness. Without words! Great!Goal for this year - arrive earlier again to dine on site in the evening. Food should also be delicious!I really like it!

Very friendly staff. Very good cuisine. We were there for a family celebration. Despite the flooding that also reached the hotel, they didn't let the guests notice it and continued to look after their guests. Of course, the other hotel guests were also lovingly looked after, some of whom suffered damage from the water.

We stayed at the Hotel “Zur Schmiede” for a weekend with a motorcycle group in May 2024.There was absolutely nothing to complain about for us, we were completely satisfied! Starting from the garage for the motorcycles, to the very nice, clean and large rooms, to the food, which we all thought was really great, everything was to our satisfaction.I would also like to highlight the very committed and attentive staff, which we all noticed very positively.I think that we will definitely be guests there again, especially since the area is perfect for motorcycling.

Very nice hotel and very friendly and courteous staff. Delicious food, beautiful rooms, well-equipped seminar rooms.
