I was there traveling alone for two nights. If I travel alone, I'm willing to make compromises as long as the room is clean. What I found here was underground. Single room in the lowest category, in need of renovation, worn if not rotten interior, smelly and with vermin. Breakfast is not offered - maybe it's better that way. Absolutely no recommendation. Spend 20 EUR more per night and enjoy your stay in Rothenburg. The city is worth it and you probably are too.

The rooms are in need of renovation and not very clean. Cables are hanging around, there is dust in the radiator and on the lamps.The stream from the faucet sprays in all directions. The battery cover is missing from the remote control for the TV.There are no direct parking spaces; there is limited parking available on the street side (many parking spaces are only for residents)The boss and the staff are very nice. There is an Indian restaurant on the ground floor, the food is very good.The old town is worth a visit. Beautiful old buildings, towers and city walls.

We booked a single and a double room at short notice and the service was very nice.The single room was bright and clean at first glance - the only thing you weren't allowed to open was the drawers as the previous person's rubbish was still in there.The double room was extremely narrow, you could hardly walk around the bed, the furniture, well - some say old-fashioned charm, others say worn out.The pillowcase was dirty, wasn't replaced despite being spoken to, and the beds were extremely low.I haven't had a shower curtain in a hotel for a long time and there was only a mixer tap at the hand basin.Lots of - even small - heels on the way to the room and in the room.In the double room there is no seating, no table, not a single hanger in the closet, no shelves to put something down, no coat rack hooks...Good location on the edge of the city center, everything within walking distance, parking in front of the city wall for €6/day.If we come to Rothenburg again we'll look for something else - although it's quite cheap for Rothenburg, it's unacceptable for the service offered.

After checking in for an unnecessarily long time, we were finally allowed into the room only to find that the entire hotel and the room reeked of Indian food. But anyway, after a 100 km bike ride, finally get into the shower. Then the next disappointment: the shower is broken. Thanks for nothing 🙈

The hotel is located near the center...everything is within walking distance. The room is in serious need of renovation. As cyclists, we had to pay an additional €5 per person to charge our e-bikes (4 people). This has never happened to us in any other hotel. No mention of this in the hotel descriptions. We cannot recommend the hotel.

We arrived by bike and the gentleman at the registration desk was the first to ask for 5 euros per bike for loading the bikes. Then immediately the ID cards and money for the rooms.Afterwards we were finally allowed into the rooms through dark corridors.The sanitary facilities were limited in terms of cleanliness. The beds were good.

We spent two nights in the black eagle.Of course, the rooms cannot compete with standard hotels. But the operators responded very flexibly to our needs and the house itself is a historical experience.Our review focuses on the service and food in the Indian restaurant. The latter was really very good.

The location of the hotel is good but no parking space. You have to walk a few hundred meters to reach it. The rooms are very old and dingy. Ancient carpet, worn toilet seat, silicone joints are probably from the last millennium. For the price you should be able to expect more.

Super friendly staff and very tasty food in the restaurant below. The rooms are a bit run down, but the bed and bedding are new and everything is clean.
