Despite the construction site it was fine. Basel Bad train station was a 15-minute walk away and the Musical Theater was an 11-minute walk away. Everything is ideally accessible.

- Loud- Room too small, hot and stuffy- Hotel card was no longer active after 2 days, had to get help via the emergency number when we arrived at night because the reception is not staffed 24 hours a day.- At half past 11 in the night, loud kitchen noises right next to the room- Leaky room doors- Right on Lauterstrasse where there is a lot going on at night- disinterested staff- Old and rocky location- Lift renovation, construction site in the house at 7 a.mNot recommended unless that doesn't bother you and you want it cheap.

We booked an overnight stay because of the evening event in the exhibition center.|Simple hotel with small but clean rooms. It was very hot in the room and the small fan did little to cool us down. …

*AVOID this hotel*I made a reservation 6 months prior to my mum travelling. I explained to the hotel that she was an elderly, 84 year old, travelling solo. The day before check-in, they sent me a "reminder email about the booking" and in the email it stated " Please note that the lift will be out of service from 5 August to 20 September as it is being renovated. Please note that the restaurant will be closed from 28 July to the end of September due to kitchen renovations. Guests with half board can have dinner at Restaurant Alexander, a 5-minute walk away"Her reservation was for the night of the 24th August. None of this was an emergency - planned renovations - I have had multiple communications with the property, and never once did they mention these planned renovations !Only as I advised my mum, when she arrived at the hotel, to a huge noise of building works, did they offer to move her to a "sister hotel" - they didn't offer pro-actively, and seem to still be trying to take money from any guests that they can.The room in the Hotel Alexander that they moved her to was nothing like the room I'd booked. It was really really small, no table, no coffee making facilities, no AC ! With 36 degrees C temperatures !This was an awful experience for my mum, who is travelling in Europe for the first time in many years, and as a solo traveler, who wanted everything booked and secured for her peace of mind before travelling. No compensation was offered to her, and they didn't even bother to provide her at lease a similar, or slightly improved accommodation, after the inconvenience of her having to move at the last minute.Terrible customer service, and terrible customer experience.*AVOID this hotel*

We stayed for 5 nights in August 2024. From here we visited Swiss cities and returned to Basel at night. Hotel attendant Amansio had been to our country before and treated us very warmly. When he saw that we were 3 people, he gave us the best room in the hotel without any notice. The location of the hotel is very good. Trams 6, 14 and 15 pass in front of it. I think the breakfast was quite sufficient. There was a fan instead of air conditioning. It would be better if there was air conditioning, but the weather is not too hot. There was a coffee machine, we could make Turkish tea even with a kettle. In short, I can recommend it with peace of mind.

Great newly renovated room, kindly had a free upgrade, clean room service, great location in a shopping street near the center, the only minus was the breakfast, unfortunately the same thing every day, little choice and above all there were no vegetables, such as cucumber slices, peppers and tomatoes, but would go back at any time come
