That was something very special. I felt totally refreshed and rejuvenated after 2 nights on the Starship Enterprise with the gorgeous futuristic blue lighting. The pods are more spacious and comfortable than I thought and offer privacy. I found the bed upstairs very comfortable, and I accepted the fact that it was a bit noisy for the special experience. The very clean shared bathroom even has rain showers and enough shampoo for everyone, and instant coffee, tea and small snacks are available free of charge in the kitchen. And the space theme runs through every detail of the furnishings. Someone really thought through how to make the guests' stay pleasant. The only thing you can't do is accidentally lock yourself out, which almost happened, the reception is not staffed all the time and you check yourself in and out. I will definitely come back and recommend this special hotel.

Very nice capsules, : look futuristic and have everything you would need inside, even a safe. The mattress is somewhat thin and soft - could be not enouth for some.The kitchen is well equipped and clean, even small snacks are present each day. Everything clean.Lockers use the card to close so no own lock is required and are quite spaceous.Negative points are: the sound proofing of the capsules is not that high. Almost no windows: the atmosphere can suffer from it a lot.The toilet and bath fir ≈15 people are in the same room: you can be in the shower and someone enter the toilet which will... tank the air quality.

Underground!!!My partner and I booked a double room. The room was OK at first glance but the bathroom and balcony don't work at all...At second glance, it turned out that the room had only been cleaned very superficially, the sheets had holes in them and the furnishings were very dusty and dirty.The mattresses were totally dirty, had stains...The bathroom, a shared bathroom, was so dirty that it bordered on being a health hazard. This wasn't just the dirt of a day or two.The balcony was a shack, except for one window, completely closed and dirty and there was mold on the ceiling and walls... We didn't even use the communal kitchen... You could have made coffee or tea and cooked little things. When we saw the kitchen we clearly lost our desire to cook.All in all, location OK, a bit confusing and difficult to reach but OK.The room and the hygiene leave a lot to be desired.

I found this place super cool. The pods are really top tier, there are enormous varieties of lights, ventilation, locking mechanisms etc. You can have entire photoshoots inside the pods haha. Only problem: the fan in my pod didn't work and it got quite warm sometimes. The AC in the room was great though,- just that the cool air doesn't come inside the pod. They give each person a locker which is really an entire closet- very spacious with 4 shelves. They provide breakfast and a well-stocked kitchen. I would definitely stay here again.

Walked into the room on the fourth floor and…walked out. Black Mold on the ceilings. A pigeon nest on the balcony (that fits one person and comes complete w cigarette butts and a caulking gun). The table for two is in a separate room and is such a nice idea but as uninviting as it gets.The door lock looks like it’s been jammed open and replaced many times. 6 flights of stairs and no parking out front. Hallway smells of an ashtray. $90 a night may be a good price for Karlsruhe, but buyer/renter beware.

Was a really good hostel with everything you need. Only thing ist the metress was a bit thin. But I slept well despite. I hope more hostels like this open their doors for young travellors.

Great central location! Subway station nearby, castle within walking distance.The stairwell at the bottom was musty, but upstairs on the 3rd floor and in the room it was ok.If you otherwise like to use shared rooms, this is an interesting way to spend the night. The mattress in the capsule was very comfortable, bed linen/bath towel clean. More privacy than in the usual shared rooms. TV inside didn't work, but that wasn't important to us. My capsule could be locked from the outside with a card, but my companion's couldn't... they could both be locked from the inside. We didn't have any valuables with us. There was a small "safe" in the capsule, but whether it was really burglar-proof... well...We didn't use the kitchen, but it seemed to be well equipped: two induction plates, two ovens (or were they microwaves,Don't know), instant coffee/tea was also there.A bit noisy at night when guests get up to use the toilet or something similar, but that's probably the case in all shared rooms :) for us, for one night it was worth the experience!Even check-in and check-out worked well. We received all the necessary information in a timely manner via email and WhatsApp. An employee was also there to help during the day.

The hostel is not bad, but offers a bit of a Fawlty Tower experience. The reception was largely unmanned for three evenings, even though it had to be open until 10 p.m. After waiting there and then checking in myself, I took a picture of the empty reception when the owner happened to come in and somewhat aggressively asked me not to take any photos!New guests did not have a door code and had to be let in by other guests. When checking in at the machine you are not given sufficient information.The capsules are nowhere near as high-tech as the photos suggest. You feel like you're in a piece of plastic toy that's partially broken. Many functions don't work, e.g. the small TV screen in the ceiling. You can follow the temperature on a display — I watched with interest as my temperature went from 26 to 32 degrees, then I decided to sleep behind the open door.There are instructions on the capsule doors for closing and opening by holding the key card. So I would get confused because the door wasn't lockable. The owner said (as the most natural thing in the world) that the locking function is not active due to fire safety regulations from the authorities!So you have to put your things in a closet. The barriers are large, but not secure as they can be easily opened without a key card.There were also two desks in the room, which were comfortable for work. There were plenty of tables in the kitchen/common room and also 3-4 “office spaces” on the wall. There was a large television, but it was controlled by a laptop next to it - I changed the channels at will, but most guests probably didn't understand this system.The kitchen facilities are good. 2-3 large refrigerators, two ovens, induction cookers, everything new and high quality.A big minus in the common room were two large, loud refrigerated machines with drinks and breakfast bags. (Yes, the breakfast that you can pre-book consists of a brown paper bag from the vending machine.) I don't buy breakfast with it and therefore don't know the contents.Cookies, fruit and tea were provided free of charge.In the bathroom you could also access leftover shampoo and cream products for free in a cupboard, which in itself is a good idea; However, this service is free for the owner.The location is very central two minutes from Europaplatz station and the Postgalerie, 5-10 minutes walk from the castle. Opposite the hostel there is a Rewe that is open until midnight.There was a washing machine that was apparently free to use, but it was a secret tip.Of the three hostels in Karlsruhe where I stayed, I would give this one a medium rating. “Not good, but not terrible.” The price is cheap.But with more honest information in advance, improvement of small flaws and above all a less bizarre attitude towards customers, it could be a pretty good hostel.

The sleeping capsule was like the picture. Although the television didn't work, the capsule and the rest of the room were pleasantly air-conditioned, which is great when it's 30 degrees outside. Friends had a single room in the same hostel, which was probably much warmer. Bedding and towels were fresh and generally everything was pretty clean.The employee wasn't always there, but he was friendly and helpful.Location is not the prettiest but central.

PSA for solo female travellers - as much as I loved the space concept of this hostel, there were a couple of things that made me feel less comfortable as a solo female traveller. The bathrooms/showers are mixed, and there were some older men also staying here, so I felt uncomfortable showering. There needs to be women’s and men’s bathrooms. There’s also not an option for female only dorms, so although you do have your own private capsule, the space is shared with men.In saying that, I absolutely adored my pod and would recommend it as an experience!
