The location of the hotel is perfect, which is probably why the prices are so high. The hotel is deliberately furnished in an old-fashioned way and that's how it gets its charm (you have to like it or not)The rooms are also accordingly. Our room was large with a lake view and also clean. The smell in the room was really very unpleasant. Hard to describe. The breakfast served its purpose, but the selection wasn't huge. The hotel is also perfect as a starting point for hikes!

We were welcomed by a silverfish on the bed and an extremely hot room with humid air (neither ventilated nor air-conditioned in the attic) room 33. In addition, the previous tenants of the room had not cleared away the garbage (juice packets). The room lamp was very dark and gave off a weak light. We were deceived by the pictures the hotel provided online... Our room looked completely different and wasn't nice at all (we booked a room with a lake view). The floor, every door and every door handle creaked extremely. The bed creaks just as loudly and probably has broken slats. The bathroom door is moved back and forth by the wind at night, which is an annoying noise and prevents you from sleeping. (Closing the windows is not an option in the heat and bad air)You can hear your neighbors very loudly, which is annoying when you sleep. The curtains in front of the windows are anything but easy. There is no privacy screen from the room in the bathroom, so the hotel opposite can watch you undress. (Especially when it gets dark). The bathroom window didn't close properly and was also broken. There was no shampoo or shower gel, just 10ml sample packs that you can't really do anything with... Cobwebs on the walls added to the impression. The breakfast is about a 3/10 (everything you need to survive, but no good coffee, only one type of roll, everything in cheap small packaging, scrambled eggs cold) Breakfast time slot 8-10 a.m. is also very tight.Despite the very good location, the price-performance ratio is not right at all. There is a need for renovation on every corner.I highly recommend looking elsewhere.I upload pictures and videos for illustrative purposes.

This is not a Radisson, Hilton, or Disney resort. This is a beautiful authentic hotel built in 1882. The floors creak. The room keys are old-school. The WC and shower is kind of small. Power in rooms are few and not where you'd normally find them (near bed stands, etc). There's a message in rooms reminding guests that the place is 140 years old, so please dont burn the place down with stoves and cookers. There is WIFI and cable TV. There is a lift, but some rooms have a few stairs after the lift. Everything "modern" came well after the hotel was built. I wouldn't change a thing. The hotel is as historic as historic gets. The place is immaculate. The older gentleman I presume to be an owner instantly puts you at ease and makes you feel welcome. The house staff is great and will join your kids feeding ducks in the evening. Traditional German Frustuck is perfect. Rooms have German bedding (the best ever), Bavarian balconies and stunning views. The hotel is literally 100 feet from Koenigsee. The hotel has its own parking. You literally wake up at 0830 to storekeepers opening their shops (the racks of souvenier cowbells sound like a stampede) and tour guides warming up flugelhorns for the day's boat trips and Echo Wall performances. In the evening, you're on your balcony with your favorite frothy beverage listening to the band playing traditional Bavarian music "...Ein Prosit, Ein prosit...". Best thing: when all the tourists have left, the place belongs to you--Beer gardens, resteraunts, ice cream stands, shopping (till 7 or so). Easily my favorite hotel in Bavaria. Don't pass it up!

The hotel is in a very good location, just 100 meters from the lake, and the staff is very friendly. But that's where the positive aspects end.Let's get to the disadvantages:Firstly, we lived on the top floor and, as I understand it, all the apartments there are old and in poor condition. In our house the lights didn't work, there was no air conditioning and the shower made so much noise it was unbearable.I was happy that at least the floors were clean, but opening and closing the front door was very difficult and required effort. Also, the entrance to the hotel consisted of two doors, which is unusual. There was also a lamp (emergency exit light) that hung right in the living room and glowed very brightly. Maybe this was a replacement for the light that didn't work for us.I have never seen a breakfast like this in my life. We paid €390 for two people for three days in the hotel, and the breakfast was simply catastrophic. There was very little, even in cheap hotels there is more choice. The coffee was delicious, but the juice - how it turned out. Sometimes he was good, sometimes bad. For example, the day before we left we had mold in our food, which indicates incorrect food storage.I would also like to add that we had a neighbor who was an employee of the hotel and smoked a lot. All the smoke wafted into our room, making breathing very difficult.
