Spent a week of hiking holiday in this wonderful hotel. Cozy rooms, each one unique. The attention to detail is noticeable everywhere here. Lovingly furnished breakfast room and very tasty, varied breakfast buffet. The boss is super nice and always makes sure that everything fits. The service lady for breakfast is also really nice and the buffet is quickly refilled if something runs out. You can provide yourself with drinks from the fridge and sit together comfortably in the lounge or in the “beer garden” in the evening. Walkenried is ideal as a starting point for hikes. Whether you walk directly from the hotel or travel a short distance by car, no problem. Since dinner is not currently offered, you have to eat out, but that's not a problem. There are very good places to stop for refreshments both in Walkenried and in Bad Sachsa, which is ten minutes away. Occasionally the boss cooks himself and then there is a buffet in the evening. Dogs are very welcome. That's why: We'll be back.

Nice, dignified hotel in an old building complex with great charisma, run by a charming owner. In addition to the hotel room and breakfast room (including a lovingly prepared breakfast!), we particularly liked the lounge known as a "pub" (unfortunately not with a draft pint, but at least beer from the drinks fridge) - very cozy!

I received a very friendly welcome on my hike along the green belt. A lovingly furnished, clean, charming hotel with a great breakfast and lovely people. I'm already looking forward to October, when I complete my stage on the green belt and can stay two nights in the monastery hotel.

The staff were extremely courteous and friendly, and the cleanliness throughout the hotel was remarkable. The breakfast was also simply delicious - a wonderful selection of fresh food that got our day off to a perfect start. We can fully recommend this hotel and will definitely come back! Easily accessible by train and car. Interesting hiking trails. In the immediate vicinity there is a Cistercian monastery (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Family atmosphere in the hotel. Functional rooms. Usability of comfortable common areas. Breakfast, Kniester and monastery meals were tasty and suitable for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

Stayed in Walkenried many times but this was my first stay at Klosterhotel. I booked direct via their website with prices being cheaper than the usual “agent” options.Email communication with the hotel were good and timely.I had a single room with a shared bathroom. I normally prefer en-suite but I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and quality of the shared bathroom.The single room comprised a day bed, desk, wardrobe and private toilet. For a single room it was spacious and bright. I was more than happy with it.The hotel in general is lovely, it is clean and traditional but not old fashioned. Very fitting for a small traditional German town on the edge of the Hertz mountains.Breakfast was included in the room price, and again I was impressed with the quality and quantity of the food and drink.I would have no hesitation in staying here again and would recommend the place to anyone.

Rooms clean and well equipped. Unfortunately, the windows had no sound insulation at all, so the street noise could be heard 1:1. "Park view" means that you are looking at a park, but there is a busy street between the house and the park; the hotel is right on a curve. So a quiet night is out of the question. If we had known this, we would have chosen a room with a "courtyard view". This seems to be the much quieter side. Rich breakfast. Despite booking at short notice, we found the price of €127 (with breakfast) to be too much for this room.

I spontaneously booked the “poor poet” the day before for a mountain bike weekend in the Harz and got an upgrade to room number 10 for the same price!From communication to service, cleanliness, friendliness, breakfast, price-performance ratio and location of the hotel, everything was perfect and definitely worth 5***** :-)I'm already looking forward to the next time...

A truly hospitable little hotel. What cannot be beaten is how Kerstin takes care of her guests and can spontaneously conjure up a Mallorcan menu with fresh, honest ingredients. A really big compliment - chapeau!!!!
