Hello, I would like to comment on Barbara Hintze's comment. She was invited to my annual general meeting and yes the light was a little darker but the innkeepers are still renovating etc. But I didn't have my glasses on and I could see and read everything at the buffet.I would also like to add that she didn't pay €22.90 but only €10 +€2.90=€12.90. All members ate well and praised the food. I thought it was great too. And I thought the sauce was great - you shouldn't forget that the innkeepers are Dutch and don't know sauces. Of course there are great restaurants in Oker and I will also hold small gatherings there, but I will always hold large gatherings in the Waldhaus. All guests thought it was great and you should always remain fair. I am thrilled and will always visit the Waldhaus and hold my events there.

I visited the restaurant on the occasion of a SoVD event. The event room was very poorly lit due to the lack of lights. The drink service was ok.The ordered menu was offered for self-service. Because of the poor lighting, the individual components of the menu were barely visible. Except for a few braised onions, the food was made entirely from frozen products. Even the side salad came from a large bag of pre-sorted lettuce leaves. Schnitzel 3 times: thick breading, equally thick slice of meat and thick breading again. So a cheap frozen product. The sauce was bland and enriched with champions from the jar. The imperial vegetables without “varnish and taste”. And there were pieces of currywurst in sauce.The menu and a small Cola Zero cost €22.90.My advice: give it a wide berth. The Harz offers so many good restaurants. There is better in Oker too.

Fantastic restaurant with delicious food and wonderful hosts. An unreserved recommendation. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the rooms as I only ate.

We can't give a review of the hotel (room etc.) itself, we were there for coffee today 👍 👍 👍 super nice new operators, home-baked apple pie, gooseberry meringue, 😋 😋 😋, latte macchiato, we'll be back 👋

Thanks to a recommendation from the “Waldcafe” (an accommodation nearby) we ate there. The schnitzel was great. Fried potatoes could be crispier, but still very tasty. The pulled pork burger was extremely good. Juicy meat, delicious bread and I can still rave about the fries. For dessert we had apple strudel. Or rather two. We couldn't share it because it was so delicious! Very nice staff. Cozy atmosphere. Absolute recommendation!We cannot rate the rooms there.

We "only" had something to eat there, so we can't judge the rooms. The food was excellent, the service was super nice and quick and the atmosphere was great! Our dog also smelled the smell of the restaurant. A big recommendation from us!

Had dinner there last night after a day of hiking. The new owner was super nice and on the ball! 5 stars for that! To me it looked clean and tidy. However, I found the food selection to be pretty bad. Almost only meat dishes and then in THE selection that quickly becomes clear: actually just ready-made frozen food! So various schnitzels, dumplings, sausages, burgers, etc. Unfortunately there was really nothing home-cooked/baked. Still, most of them are quite expensive! The pizza we chose was of course only frozen. So for the food, 2 stars at the most! I would advise offering some really "fresh, homemade dishes"!! Only then will a guest come back because of the food and not just because of the friendliness and the beautiful view!

The prices are thought up with an extremely bad joke. Out of necessity on a hike in 30 degree temperatures, we stopped here to have a snack and a drink.Since we didn't eat everything, we talked to the waitress, she was nice but everything else was bottomless.We asked for simple fried potatoes that are on the menu, they don't have them, no problem, it happens that something runs out. Then there was the hefty Max on the menu for a whopping €12.50, which is legitimate when well prepared. However, we only ordered 3 breads with 3 fried eggs with well-done sides because we just don't eat ham, cheese, bacon, etc. We asked for an adjusted price, she said no, there's nothing I can do, and after I asked my wife if we even wanted to do that, she said €10. It's not about the money, but the price itself is really good. We said ok, let's do it.So we received our food, and now the terribleness in person, the plate came with 3 slices of dry, untouched white sandwich toast where 3 half raw fried eggs were slapped on top, with ready-made chives crumbled from the glass.The taste is disgusting, as is the look and smell.When we asked for the bill, we came up with a price of €25, but that included a piece of apple pie.The ambience is cheap plastic chairs that almost break when you sit on them and there is really nothing nice here other than nature.The apple pie was okay, but you won't be able to stop there.

I'm only reviewing the café here, not the accommodation.We came for coffee and cake. We sat on the terrace with our dogs. The waitress was very nice and served us quickly. The coffee was very tasty and the cake was really good (rarely have I eaten such a delicious cake). The toilet was very clean but very very small. People with disabilities would have problems here. We recommend taking a break here, thank you for the lovely hour of relaxation after our hike
