Old rustic and clean

We were there for a small family celebration (Trösterle). Everything nicely prepared, friendly, courteous service, delicious cakes and sandwiches. Gladly again, on a nicer occasion.

Top price-performance ratio, breakfast and dinner also top, rooms very clean and parking spaces right in front of the house. There is a lot of passion in the owner-managed hotel, which you can feel as a guest right from the front door - keep it up. Best regards from Lippstadt

We booked this adventure and surprise hotel through Animod. We were surprised at how much traffic there can be on a village street. Recommending car brands and license plates is ideal. We have experienced posers who drive at 80 in the 30 zone. It was quiet between 2 and 4 a.m. The closet in the room, with 2 compartments, was enough for 1 person, so I didn't have to unpack my suitcase. There was a warm Rotkäpchen sparkling wine in the room as a welcome. Here you think of the pensioners who shouldn't drink anything cold. There was no refrigerator. So we took the champagne home with us. The rooms have been freshly renovated with a 70/80s look. (see photo). Showering is an experience. Sometimes there is warm water, then again there is none and the water pressure fluctuates enormously. At times it was so low that you couldn't wash your hair. (see photo). We give the room 2 stars: 1x for cleanliness, 1x for TV and seating.We were also surprised by the noise in the hallway from 6:30 a.m. onwards from the fitters who were loudly discussing the next day's routine from room to room. In Spanish, so holiday feeling for free ;-)Service: There is no elevator in the hotel, so as 66 year olds we had to drag our 20 kg suitcases up the steps ourselves. No help was offered because we apparently still looked so spry. Our request for a quieter room for an additional charge could not be met because the 6 rooms were all fully booked. Strange that only 3 breakfast tables were set. The boss must have lied here. Breakfast is sufficient and good, but you have to be quick with the rolls. There are always only 3 there. Coffee is available in a thermos. We also give 2 stars for the service: 1x for the offer to charge the bicycle battery in the garage and 1x for the free car parking space directly at the house (4 spaces available).Unfortunately, Alzenau doesn't have much to offer, but there are 2 ice cream parlors on the main square. However, you are on the Main cycle path in about 5 km and in Frankfurt or Aschaffenburg in about 30 km. The hotel is advertised as economical, but only small home cooking was offered, mostly from the deep fryer. We were happy to accept the recommendation to eat at the “Alte Post” and were not disappointed.Overall, we give 4 stars for price/performance, so we can easily get over the promised but forgotten welcome drink.Note on the owner's answer:1. According to our observation, room 6 was empty until Tuesday.2. Room look in the style of the 70s/80s. We didn't complain about this but pointed out that the rooms had been renovated in this style.3. We didn't criticize the breakfast either, but rather wrote that it was good. Others also noticed the thing about the rolls. Why are you so irritated?4. The schnitzel and fries that the person sitting next to me had eaten were from the deep fryer. Stand by it!Nothing against your hotel, but in our opinion it is more suitable for business travelers and mechanics and less for vacationers looking for relaxation.
