Short version of the review: Not again.Pros:*Directly on the S-Bahn*There is a bar right next to it*Clean linensCons:*Very small room*No trash can*Bad WiFi*Shared toilet/shower that stinks, is always dirty, doesn't flush, holes in the wall.*Door cannot be closed or locked.*The door appears to have been broken into several times, the lock is only halfway in the door and is not properly secured.*Door shakes and rattles with every little gust of wind, waking you up.*Without a multiple socket, you cannot charge your cell phone next to you.*Bed uncomfortable and creaks.*"Roommates" do not adhere to "quiet times/night rest".*Downtown neighborhood*Many foreigners therefore also the noise from them*Price too expensive for one night.

Since the moment I entered the building I could smell pee. Even though I saw the cleaning lady washing the bathroom the smell was very intense. The wifi was not very good either. Very noisy. My window didn’t work properly, this meant, that I couldn’t open it and the only way it could remain closed was with TAPE. Wouldn’t recommend

I'm absolutely speechless, I often travel with my son to sporting events and then to low budget hotels, but I've never experienced anything like that. It made me so uncomfortableBecause of my job I know emergency shelters, dormitories for the homeless, it's nothing else.Sharon Lerch posted some pictures in her review 3 months ago? I thought I was going to be hit when I ended up in exactly this room, there was blood behind the doorknob or feces on the door, I have no idea. I didn't read the review before booking, it's my own fault, of course. Smell of urine in the hallway, dodgy design, just disgusting.The bed linen was ok, mattress was ok, was clean.Top location on the train station, Duisdorf was niceAs I said, I'm often in hotels and guesthouses, if something isn't ok I'll tell you straight away on the spot. But the hotelier's overworked, snippy, subliminally aggressive nature stopped me, I was too tired, I actually didn't shower there for two days in a row, haha, such a failure, oh my God, that something like that is possible, something like that hotel/hostel passes.Kind of dishonorable, sorry hotelier, but that's not possible.

I stayed in the hostel for two nights. Booked a single room. There were problems when I checked in because I got into a room that had 3 beds and I wasn't told that all the single rooms were fully booked (overcrowding of the single rooms) and that I could use it as a single room. I had to go back to reception and ask. Then I was in the room and wanted to connect to the WiFi, but I had to go back to reception because they gave me the WiFi password. There was just no communication. The room itself was clean and didn't smell. But since I had a room in the basement and was hardly outside the room, I smelled old smoke with the smell of urine, because the bathroom in the basement smelled terrible and there was even a fungus growing on one of the furniture in the bathroom. In short, the only clean bathroom was on the 1st floor (one of the guests must have cleaned it). You really hear everything, if you don't have a deep sleep then it's impossible to sleep. Luckily I was there in the evening (I was on the move the whole time, I knew that before I booked). Check out was the quickest and best, just had to put the key in the mailbox.The hostel reminds me more of a homeless shelter than a hostel.The standard of a hostel is never very high but this was a disaster.I wonder why the health department hasn't been there yet.

Was in the GZ Hostel for 4 days and was very happy with everything. Had a great room with a great bed, slept so well. The location is perfect with good tram connections. The price was also great. You rarely get something like this in the Cologne area.I will definitely come again. :-)

Relatively dusty, we had a hole in the wall and you can hear everything, the walls are very thin. The bathroom is a disaster, dirty, constantly flooded, stinks.The location right next to the S-Bahn stop is good, it's easy to get to the main train station.For €15 a night this hostel would have been appropriate, but for €55 a night it is outrageous.

False advertisment on booking.com: the owner intentionally hides the fact that some of the rooms are at the basement level. You won't find a single photo on booking.com indicating that the room is located below the ground level, and you will have to keep your curtain closed otherwise people on parking lot will see you perfectly.Also very noisy, unsafe, dirty, crackhouse atmosphere, cigarette smell is unbearable. I couldn't stay at that place an left the next morning despite the fact that i paid for 4 nights upfront back when i found this place at booking.com.The owner refused to refund the money for the rest of 4 nights, he refused to talk with me in English and generally was acting unfriendly.

The purest horror. As a woman you shouldn't even dare to go out with the rabble that is running around here. It smells like smoke and chips not only in the pub where the reception is but also in the room. The staircase is like the last Asi district and you can't even start with the doors. They are extremely thin and almost impossible to close... horror awaits you in the room with an unswept floor, a stench, cigarette ash in the bedside cabinet and an empty pickle jar can also be found there. Towards the evening a bed bug and a grasshopper appeared, which should be reported directly to the health department!!! There's also lint and hair from the previous guests in the bed and don't even start with the "bathroom" that you have to share with the entire floor. Curtains are hanging at half past seven and furniture is almost falling apart. You can't file complaints either because the boss isn't on site and doesn't answer the phone. The staff is also unhelpful and unqualified.And to charge €57 for that is a complete impudence…. Never again and hopefully no one else gets lost here.
