Very nice hotel with extremely friendly staff! We had a wonderful New Year's Eve including a fantastic menu! Kudos to the kitchen, it was excellent!We'd love to come back!

After a very strenuous week & many customer visits across Germany, from Munich via Zwiesel, Magdeburg, Bremen, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, I finally ended up in Breisgau where it became clear that it wouldn't have been a bad idea to be here, not just because of the bad weather to stay another night and then on Saturday morning - refreshed - to serve the last customer and then start my 5-6 hour journey home. But things had to turn out differently somehow. 4 hours before, I had looked for a hotel in the rated region via booking at the store around 1500, found it and communicated my sensitivities regarding my allergy to feather bed linen (with the words: no feather bed linen please or similar).Well, I arrived around 1915, I think. It was very crowded in the back yard, but I finally found a (rather inconvenient) parking space & after a short while I also found the makeshift back entrance (leading over a very uneven ground), especially for hotel guests. At the kitchen I asked the kitchen staff about the reception, who referred to the dining room and the staff there. So far okay. I was welcomed in a friendly manner and at the same time showed me the room, which was probably the last available one. Up the stairs immediately to the left should be mine. When I arrived I found the smell in the room rather unpleasant. Bathroom was ok and I could have ignored the feather bed linen for one night. Unfortunately, the work table at knee height didn't work at all. Regardless, I thanked him and was happy to have found something quickly so that I could somehow get my work done in the evening and get something into my stomach. So I changed and settled in to grab a bite to eat down at the bar and finish my work for the day. When I got downstairs, they told me that they weren't catering because there were Christmas parties. However, there were still a few places available and I felt quite insulted. That didn't change when I was suggested to eat somewhere else. I don't choose my hotel with a restaurant for the fun of it. I don't find being offered a walk through the unknown (with a company laptop under my arm) to be service-oriented.Well, so I left then to reassess and decide to leave, because given all the circumstances, I didn't imagine the evening to be like that and was pretty pissed off, which I shared below.So I packed and while I was doing it I was asked what was wrong, to which I answered and also said that it doesn't work that way. Downstairs I wanted to have my money back, which I was denied. A refund via booking was also not possible. So I paid €67.10 for the room (including €2.10 tourist tax - joke, let's go) to leave about 30 minutes after my arrival and then leave at 8:45 p.m. for the last customer who was scheduled for the following day was to use. Then around 10 p.m. I started my 6-hour journey home, which took 10 hours due to the weather and tiredness. When I got home I was completely exhausted and still annoyed by the situation in Kirchzarten, which I left out when booking and am now trying to give this review a fair review (a good week later).As I said, the room smelled unpleasant and only feather bed linen was available, hence two stars. I think the location on the main street and the possibility of parking there are good, hence three stars. There are two stars for the service because I received a friendly welcome, but I was not served, the smell in the room was ignored and I haven't gotten my money back to date, which is what annoys me the most in retrospect and I give it two stars I am now correcting it down to one star for the service.If you find this review helpful, please give it a thumbs up. 👍

Good home-style food, but of a very high standard. The taste is very well balanced and the sizes are not too big, which is what you often experience in such inns. Great service and rustic atmosphere!

Located directly at the train station. Quite loud due to heavy train traffic. Owner friendly. First floor room nicely renovated with very soft beds. However, a rather simple breakfast with baked rolls and little choice. But ok for two nights

Good hotel, nice staff, good breakfast, good value for money. Close to the bus/train station. The room rates include a KONUS card, which allows you to use all public transport for free. The in-house restaurant was very good.The only drawback is the proximity to the train station/level crossing and the associated noise. But that didn't bother any of us. (Family with 2 kids)

One star is already too many!With all my love, this doesn't correspond to any hotel! Nobody there on arrival, no information about breakfast. The hotel entrance is at the back in what appears to be an old farm. It smelled accordingly. When we opened the door the smell was even worse...everything was outdated from the 70s and shabby...electrics, doors, bathroom a disaster. There was no isolation. Outside temperature was 29 degrees. Inside there was just as much. No air conditioning, you couldn't leave the window open because there was a railway crossing right next door and the barriers close every 15 minutes. And that's pretty loud. Not to mention the train, of course. The beds were very uncomfortable and the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Cobwebs everywhere.When we wanted to have the included breakfast the next morning, we decided to leave the hotel immediately. The dining room alone didn't appeal to us.The whole thing at a price of €100 per night is an absolute disgrace!Something like this shouldn't be allowed to operate as a hotel. Definitely the last time and definitely not a recommendation.

About the hotel 👍: We only used the hotel as a stopover for 1 night. The location and the price were ideal. The hotel seems to have a history steeped in history, at least all the pictures in the house suggest that everything is clocky and you can't move an inch without the floor squeaking 😅. That had an attractive charm on me.Now to the room 👎: Entrance door with a window with a curtain hanging in front of it. The light was on all night in the hallway and therefore also in our rooms, as there were no doors between the individual bedrooms 👎. The bathroom had a patterned glass door that was a hand's width crack at the bottom. A little more cleanliness would have been nice. These were the points that bothered me and didn't make the night restful.The breakfast was good again, which was then enjoyed in a crumpled state 😅
