I stayed with my boyfriend for 4 nights, we were super close to the cathedral and every important monument were reachable by walking. The staff were nice and available, the room was little but had everything we needed.

Not entirely sure why there are so many 1-star reviews for this place. There were all sorts of horror stories of mouldy and dirty rooms, rude staff etc. I experienced none of that. This is a perfectly fine budget hotel with an unbeatable location. Yes, the rooms are very very basic and the decor could do with an upgrade and there's no air conditioning but if you're like me and need a bed, a shower, and working WiFi then you're sorted. The staff I interacted with were friendly and I couldn't hear any noise from the neighbouring rooms. You get what you pay for.

We visited The Art house for three nights. The location is great, in the middle of Cologne, 5 minutes walk to Cologne central train station and about 8 minutes from the old town. Our room was very basic but seemed clean and functional. The bathroom was ok but the shower riser bracket was broken which made showers a little awkward, looked like it had been broken for some time. One of the windows had a broken frame so wouldn't close properly which wasn't a problem for us but in the winter maybe a different matter. The reception staff were friendly enough, we never used the hotel for breakfast so can't comment on the food. I did find the hairdresser in the hotel reception very strange. The location is very good but the rooms were very tired.

One star is too much for this dump.Dirty smelly unloved describes it bestNo power points worked, the sheets had fresh blood on them, hundreds of tiny bugs in the corner of the room.The air conditioning didn’t work, the view was unforgettable for the wrong reason unfortunately.We booked for two nights but left after one night because we couldn’t face a moment longer there.

Absolutely Forgetful except for location... it's few steps from Cathedral, that's it. Rest all is beyond any reference-1) Hotel phone - DON'T CONNECT AT ALL, so for any issue, use stairs down & back to room;2) Service - ZERO3) Lift - THEY STOP ONCE YOU CHECK IN, so for any issue, use stairs to reception & back;4) Bed small babycot with baby blanket WITHOUT BED BACK;5) As per booking, Check in/out -3pm/12noon, BUT hotel changed to 11am & for extra 1hr, they asked 10€ extra, so we had to vacate <11am.6) Staff don't know German or English, so No Communication;7) Breakfast - Bread/Butter/Jam/coffee@12€, so we skipped;8) A senior lady at reception was quite nice who helped us to stock our luggage despite no space.9) >120€ for 3, WAS AN ABSOLUTE WASTE!

For the price, this place was great. Room was very clean, location is excellent, no issues with the wifi streaming YouTube on my phone. The service at the front counter was great. There has obviously been great care taken to fix issues in the room as well. Shower has recently been replaced, room recently repainted. We only stayed one night but if we came again I would recommend. They were happy to store our bags in the lobby also. One quirk of the hotel is that there is a hair salon downstairs but I don’t believe it detracts from the great place. A good location to explore all Cologne has to offer.

The location is absolutely perfect! The value is great with good amenities. We have one bottle of water in our room, and you can make tea and coffee.

It was 197 euros for one night. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The AC wasn't working properly... which should be better for this price... especially knowing that it was 32 degrees Celcius outside... we were melting inside.

The worst.Communication per phone,text,or email is non existent. Upon arrival detected an odor which could've been from the 2 drunk men in the lobby, but weary after flights and a train hoped for the best.Dark,dank hallways and the unsafe aura was bad enough but then there's the room. A nasty, airless place with a disheveled bed, inch thick plastic mattress, and ants on the mattress. ANTS!!Iwas completely shocked. Apparently a flop house of sorts masquerading as a hotel. I couldn't leave fast enough. Now for the impossible task of reaching Expedia for a refund. Can't belive they listed this place. It's a horror show.

Worst hotel of our trip. Room was like a cupboard and very basic with no air conditioning, no safe, drab decoration. Ensuite was tired and the shower tray looked disgusting so we didn't use it. Lift was broken a number of times. No redeeming features unfortunately.
