Coming from the airport, Hotel Alte Wache is located within easy walking distance to the Hamburg main train station. The hotel reception offered us free luggage storage for 3! days as we moved on to Helgoland.I found this service exceptional, as the reception had a special, safe luggage room and we were given receipts for the suitcases. The hotel staff at the hotel were friendly, the room and bathroom quiet generous, and the breakfast was very nice as well.Hotel Alte Wache is also within walking distance to the quaint St Georg area. This area has beautiful buildings, nice restaurants and we were able to sit outside listening to musicians on a sunny afternoon. We will try and re book this hotel on our next trip to Hamburg!

I have no idea how this hotel managed to score 3.9. It is really the worst place I have stayed at.To start with, I sent them a message explaining that I would be late for the check-in. However, when I got there, they had no rooms available. The receptionist was extremely rude and kept saying it was my fault for being late rather than trying to help me with the situation. He also suggested I could sleep on the reception sofa. After insisting, he finally decided to call another hotel from the same company, which had a room available.I had to walk between hotels, and this area is full of drug users during the night. The whole area is not safe and does not look well. The other hotel was also not good, the beds were dirty with red stains and the toilet did not smell nice.If all that was not enough, they overcharged me with both stays, even though they could not provide me a room in the first hotel.

The hotel is quite old, but clean and situated very close to the main railway station.Breakfast offer was very poor, especially for vegans. They don't have even plant based milks, which I find unprofessional nowadays.

Very nice location. Near to central bus and train station. You can find everything very easily from this hotel. The girl in the reception was very nice and kind. We had a little problem with our rooms. She helped us with everything she could do. I am very thankful to her.Thank you so much Duha ❤️☺️.

I had a few issues with this hotel. Every 10-15 minutes I could here the local underground tubes vibrate my room and a noise. Secondly on my last day at the hotel I went to have breakfast as usual and this guy from the catering team whispered something to another member of staff and made a rude face to me. The female member of staff asked me what room number I was in so I said the number I was going to take my card out to prove this but she said its fine the female member was polite but the male member I thought was very rude, how can you accuse someone of coming off the street and stealing food but when I prove that I am staying no apology from the male member of catering staff but he just ran back to the kitchen. And why was I the only person questioned about my room?

Time travel back to 70s. Twin bed with duvet in the summer - no air-con. No minibar, or fridge. NFC chip with big old style key chain. Breakfast, VERY simple. Not recommended for summer. Single rooms very small. Bathrooms very small.

The hotel has bed bugs. I and my colleague stayed in different rooms on different floors. Woke up to find several blood-filled bugs in the beg. Do not stay here. …

Stayed at the hotel for just one night since it's very close to the Hauptbahnhof, and the staff was very nice.On the bad side, the room was very old, and had a lingering smell that was worse on the bathroom (which was also very outdated and small).Breakfast was ok but a bit limited, (some bread, cold cuts, cereal, eggs but not much more). The main issue I had regarding the area is that the 2/3 block distance from the Hauptbahnhof was FULL of people drinking or doing drugs, so it didn't feel so safe walking at night by myself.

The hotel is a typical budget hotel. For relatively little money you can sleep for 1-3 nights. This is not a tourist facility where you enjoy your stay. The decor of the rooms is basic and dated. There is a TV, a small fridge, a basic bed, a lamp and a safe. I really missed the kettle and tea. There wasn't even a glass for drinks, which should have been standard by now. The bathroom is tiny and typical: in, small washbasin, small shower. There is also a built-in hairdryer. Despite these shortcomings, the hotel is clean and fully meets the conditions in its class. Breakfast was basic and modest, but sufficient and tasty. Restaurant very clean. The main advantage of the hotel is its location next to the station and ZOB. Therefore, it is recommendable for a short stay.
