Because I am a performer in Lichtentanne at Liederbuch, I’ve been staying here at this nearby old hotel for the past 12 years or so. There have been updates, like an elevator, Wifi, and basic bathroom renovations. The parking lot in the back is great with easy access and the host/owner is always ready for us. The rooms are quaint and small and the beds are okay. (Though the single beds would not be comfortable for XL). The lines are very fresh and clean and the in the room there’s a pleasing fridge, help your self snack and refreshments center- a real treat! As somewhat of a weary traveller I notice that the place is quiet in the evenings but it’s a noisy street below by early rush hour. For a health conscious person the breakfast leaves something more to be desired, I hope to see an option for any fruit or vegetable in future. And indeed the entrance may be dark but surely your experience here won’t be!

This hotel is traditional and comfortable. The proprietor is wonderful--very gracious and has great pride in the fact that this hotel is family owned for several generations.  …

I had a struggle in locating mid-priced accommodation in Zwickau for the night I stayed there. This place showed up as full on all the hotel booking sites, yet they accepted a reservation via their own site.  …

although the title Merkur led us to believe it was the chain, it wasn't. Still it did not stop us enjoying the short stay. The building is old in the style of the East German buildings but everything we wanted was there. …

I have stayed here in the past, and was very happy with my previous experience at the Merkur Garni, and I was not disappointed this time.||A very friendly welcome, and a good comfortable room equipped with a tv and mini-bar. …

My stay at Hotel Merkur Garni in Zwickau was very nice. The hotel is just a two minutes walk from the central station and a few minutes more from the city center away. …

The Hotel was mostly comfortable to sleep in, and location was very good, only a few blocks away from the central train station. I liked the alarm clock radios next to the bed. My only complaint is that the room was very cold at night.

The host Jorg could not do enough for this allowed us to park the motorbikes in his garage. He also provide us with directions and train times.| The hotel is older but very good value for money with excellent service.| I would thoroughly recommend|Paul

I came for two nights on business. If you don't have many demands, it's perfect for you. In the hotel it seems a little like time has stood still 😀.The owner was very friendly 👍🏻👍🏻 and since we had an early start to work and therefore couldn't use breakfast time, we were given a small lunch package to take with us 👍🏻.Unfortunately there is no dinner in the hotel but there are a few restaurants in the surrounding area. The room had everything that was needed and was therefore sufficient for workers to stay overnight.

I spent one night here. The entrance area bears witness to the charm of bygone times. Beautifully creaky floorboards. 😍The new elevator is great. The room? Honestly? Calling out €104 for this is... brave?Stains throughout the room, scuffed furniture, tiny shower. Cracks in the walls.Breakfast? Oh dear... not a single piece. Tomato, cucumber, greens in general or some fruit salad. No scrambled eggs, no sausages… The selection of sausages and cheese was ok, the rolls were super tasty. The curtains in the dining room… yellowed. All in all: completely ok for one night but absolutely overpriced.
