Horrible rooms, horrible interior, old furniture seem to come out of the Soviet era….and don’t get me wrong, antique furniture can be very nice when it’s combined with comfort but this hotel has none of that. The bathrooms are old and not practical, Pillows are all dismantled and seem to swim in larger pillow cases that you end up having your face right on an uncovered old pillow that has been used by dozens of people ( just disgusting 🤮)….when asked for a better pillow they just say no we have nothing we can do, overall this hotel needs a big update and I’m even surprised how they can still sell it as a 4 stars hotel. The guy at the reception was useless , unfriendly and not helpful at all ( overall horrible experience ). Never again!

I had a lovely stay at this hotel - for a total of seven nights. I booked a junior suite, which I highly recommend as it is just a bit more for a very beautiful room with lovely river views. The rooms had a nice cold air conditioner, which made sleeping very comfortable. Mini bar, including waters, included for the junior suite. Nice baths with big towels. I did not book breakfast in advance, but had it on some mornings and it was very good with lots of options. The terrace outside the restaurant is just gorgeous. I loved getting an aperol spritz and enjoying the river view (the drinks are very tasty also!). One note: the restaurant is very strict about reservations. So while you can walk in any time for a drink, they won’t serve you dinner or lunch if they are fully booked (which they seem to always be — I couldn’t get in for one person on a Monday night.). This is the only negative for me as it would be nice to get a bite to eat as a hotel guest, especially on a long day or arrival day. So be sure to book before you arrive. Also it would be good if the hotel could add latches to the room doors. (I had a confused hotel guest knocking on my door one night thinking it was his room — while everything was fine, a door latch would make me feel safer as a woman traveling alone.). But all in, this is a superb hotel with excellent service. It felt very luxurious for a very reasonable price. Sauna and relaxation room are also lovely, and you can request they turn on the sauna if you want to use it in the morning or daytime. Highly recommend if you are in Bonn.

Don't stay here. I'm sure you can find better value for your money elsewhere. ||My sister and I stayed here for five nights in August, while visiting a friend in Bonn. The only good thing this hotel has going for it is location. …

My sister and I were in Bonn for 5 nights and stayed at the Ameron hotel because of its location and good reviews. We were thoroughly disappointed though.Pros:- Location (very close walk to the the centre of town)Cons:- no information was given whatsoever during check-in. I literally walked up to the counter, gave my name, they gave me the form to sign and then the room key. That's it. However, while waiting in the lobby on subsequent days, i heard the staff at the front desk give so much more information to other guests who were checking in. Perhaps because my sister and I were two young black females we were brushed off, while the people who got the full information were older, white people.- we asked about the parking situation and the front desk clerk just asked us how long we were staying and then gave us a validation card for the garage, making it seem like parking was complimentary. He failed to mention that it was 18 euros a night. My friend who we were visiting just wanted to park for a few hours while we explored the old town but did not park over night, but we were charged the 18 euros. After asking another front desk clerk, they very brashly told us that it was $18 euros a night and then wasn't very helpful or forthcoming when we wanted to return the pass so that we weren't charged for any other nights.- Outdated rooms- No working A/C in room and when reported to the front desk, it was not resolved. It was between 27 to 30 degrees most days and it was so uncomfortable trying to sleep in such heat.- Telephone in room did not work. Informed the front desk and nothing was done about it.- Blow dryer in the room did not work- WIFI was so weak/did not work in rooms. My sister needed to work during this time so she was forced to go into the lobby to work as she could not get connection in our hotel room.- there was no kettle and/or coffee maker in the room. I've been to two start hotels that give this so i'm not sure how a 4 star didn't provide. There is no way that this is a 4 star hotel. I would say it was maybe 2 star at best but I've received better amenities at other 2 star hotels that i have visited. The hotel tries to justify everything using sustainability. However, while i understand that that is important, it seems that this hotel is just using that as a excuse to not provide basics but charge us a premium price. If it was not for the fact that we could not get our money back for the nights we didn't use if we checked out early, we would have left and found another hotel.I hated this hotel and could not wait to leave.

EDIT: I wrote the previous review the day after check-in. Now that I've checked out and am back home and had time to reflect, I thought I would update the review:1. I can confirm that the air conditioner issue was never resolved for the duration of the trip.2. In response to my initial review, the hotel said that they couldn't find my booking under my Google name. That's because it was under my sister's name (Aldale). However, if they truly cared they could have just gone to look for the person who was working in the lobbying on their laptop for hours every evening.3. I travel a lot. In the past year I've been to 14 different countries, so I've stayed in a variety of hotels. However, I have never stayed in a four star hotel that didn't have either a coffee machine and/or a kettle in their standard room.To compare, I recently stayed at the ALT in Montreal (a 3 star hotel) and had a Nespresso machine, and at an Ibis in Almaty and they had a kettle. In response to my sister's review, the hotel said that they could have provided it on request, but how would I know this since, as I wrote below that we were not given ANY information on check-in and it does not state that I could request one in their digital information sheet.4. I have very thick hair that will take an entire day to dry if I air dry it. I needed to wash my hair. However, the blow dryer didn't work. I didn't even bother telling the front desk since they never fixed the AC.5. As I sat in the lobby working every evening I realized that everyone else had a full check-in experience, where everything was explained to them. So it makes me wonder why we weren't given this experience. My sister theorizes it is because we are black and stated so in her review. In response to my sister's review, the hotel's response says that it may have been due to a language barrier. However, having been born and raised in Canada my native tongue is English and I heard the staff provide guests checking in with full check-in instructions in English. In the more than 55 countries I've visited and countless hotels I've stayed in, this is the only one that made me feel unwelcomed. So not only would I never stay at this hotel again, I would not ever consider staying at any of the hotels in this family of hotels again.-----I checked in last night and so far this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.First, the air condition doesn't work. It turns on but it does not actually cool the room down. I've already spoken to the front desk about this but it has not been fixed.Second, I need to work while I'm here but the Wi-Fi in the rooms are so horrible that the signal keeps dropping. So the only place I can work is in the lobby. (I'm currently sitting in the lobby writing this review.)Third, when we checked in the person at the check-in did not tell us anything. He just told us the room number and handed us the room key. He didn't tell us how parking works when I specifically asked. He just gave me a parking ticket and said to use this, but he didn't tell me how much it costs. He didn't even tell us how to connect to the Wi-Fi or that we need to connect to the Wi-Fi in order to access their digital information sheet. However, as stated above the Wi-Fi in my room is so bad that I cannot access it anyways.Fourth, the room and bathroom doesn't look anything like the pictures online. I'm assuming they have renovated some rooms, but ours definitely has not been fully renovated. Our bathroom looks like it was last updated in the early 90s.I have stayed at no frills hotels like Ibis before with better service, Wi-Fi, and amenities. If it was refundable, I would have checked out early and gone to stay at the Motel One. This is definitely not a four star hotel. It is two star at best.
