Check-in was easy & quick--other hotels should take note. The hotel staff are wonderful, all very helpful.||The lift is a good size, which fits several people and their luggage. …

I like this hotel!!!The room and facilities are a bit outdated but look, the history of this hotel tells you that it’s very well maintained. The size of room and bathroom was enormous and it has essentials - couch, bed and desk space. The big windows toward the bridge makes me feel welcomed and no direct sun to avoid heat in summer. Cleanness is excellent. Please read the information book - very interesting to know how old the building and hotel is.The location is excellent, you can’t get anything better in Heidelberg, as it’s right next to the old bridge and you see the hotel in every postcard! Walkable distance to everywhere. But that means, it’s a bit noisy at night with restaurants during weekends. Closing windows helps a lot though. The hotel doesn’t have tea making facilities but provides little biscuits… had to buy tea outside every time!!No air conditioning is a big downside, although it didn’t feel super hot on 32 degree day in summer, probably with windows wide open. The shower is not sealed and water splashing everywhere when you have very careful shower, which needs to be monitored because there is no drainage on the bathroom floor. Also the soap dispenser is far from the tap when wash your hands. The pillows were way too soft, but they actually give us different pillow options.Staff was very friendly and helpful, smiley when asked questions.

This is a wonderfully located hotel. It is at the bridge on the edge of Auldstadt. It was an easy walk to the castle funicular and the square and restaurants.  …

My wife and I stayed at this hotel with our kids about 15 years ago, and were excited to stay again when we revisited Heidelberg recently.  …

We booked very last minute, and in a hurry, as we arrive to town later than expected due to heavy traffic. It was the closest hotel to where we parked that had decent reviews. The room (superior double) sounded very nice on the booking page.Later, when reading the "rooms and prices" page, after checking in, we realized that only "some" rooms have a tub, air conditioning, or a view. We apparently received the old, non-updated room.Definititely check before you book as to which room you get. We received room 350, and found it very spartan and lacking for the price paid. The bathroom door will only latch if you pull very hard, the shower head has to be held in position or it just falls to the side and sprays the wall, the window blinds are loud, clunky, and very dirty. The shower doors have to be lifted to close, or they will not close properly. The window faces a wall of the hotel, with no view at all. All in all, for what we paid, this was not a good deal. The location is very good, and the service was friendly. Just staying one night, neither of those are helpful for us.We are only staying one night while visiting friends in Heidelberg. We will not be staying here on our next visit to the area.I recommend doing your research before booking. We have stayed in 4 other hotels in Europe on this trip and this was our second to least favorite. We have paid substantially less for substantially more at nearly all other locations.Good luck, Heidelberg is beautiful!!**update** The next morning the shower door fell off it's hinges onto my partner while she was using the shower. Also, while I lay on the bed (thankfully under a cover), someone with a key opened the door and walked in! They said "oh!" when they saw me, turned, and walked back out with no explanation. I think it was Housekeeping, but no one knocked or announced themselves. Just an interesting experience at this hotel, overall.

We had a great two night stay here in May. This hotel had the best breakfast buffet of our trip. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was ideal. The pillows here weren’t what we are used to but that didn’t really matter too much.

The hotel is in a perfect location, with the old bridge right outside the door and shops and restaurants a short walk away. The staff were incredibly friendly and provided us with champagne to celebrate our honeymoon. We can't wait to stay here again in the future and we truly loved our stay here!
