After the festival we visited the restaurant again and were completely impressed again. The cuisine is of the highest standard - every dish is lovingly prepared and refined with hand-picked ingredients of exceptional quality. A true pleasure for the senses.Particularly noteworthy is Ms. Graf's warm hospitality. With her fine instinct and excellent advice, she manages to make every guest feel very special.We will certainly come back. This restaurant is a true gem in Bayreuth and an absolute recommendation for anyone who appreciates culinary delights with a heart.Thank you very much!

I had been dreaming of being able to stay there for 30 years... And thanks to the kindness of the owner Eva I was able to realize this project.What luck and what happiness.From the first welcome to the last goodbye, an adorable and attentive team.Sumptuous rooms with museum decoration.The restaurant's menu is still being developed but I was completely satisfied.We are next to the Margraves theater where I had a concert.We are 5 minutes from the Wagner theater.I hope I can go back and have the chance to have Thomas Mann's room.An immense pleasure.

A very great and unusual hotel. The rooms all have their own charm and have everything you need. You can put together your own breakfast from the menu in the morning and it leaves nothing to be desired. The location is great because you are right in the center of the city. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful. Dogs are also welcome with advance notice and are allowed in the breakfast room. We'd love to come back.

The service was very friendly and courteous all around. The rooms are well furnished. The mattresses and beds are very comfortable. Very good duvets and enough pillows, with a very comfortable filling. Rooms very quiet.Breakfast was very good, all wishes were fulfilled.The history of the house is impressive.All the best to the team.

Not an accommodation machine, but the confusing, winding, living building history of an old hotel. No breakfast buffet - it's not necessary either, because you'll be provided with everything on site and in the best quality and you'll start to feel like you've been transported back 200 years. The hotel does not have a restaurant or hotel bar.

We were very satisfied. Sure, in a house with so much history everything may not work perfectly, but the special place makes up for it with its charm and perfect location. We found the breakfast served great. The room was quiet at the back. We'll be back!

Well, I don't really know what to think of this hotel. The service is very friendly, it gets 5 stars. The breakfast could be more unusual. Our room was large, but not nearly as big as the pictures. The price was far too high for what was offered.

The breakfast is catastrophic, the service doesn't understand anything, the waiting time is too long. The price is charged even though you didn't get the full breakfast. Dirty tablecloths. Boss completely unfriendly and insulting. Totally unfriendly. Not recommended. The worst store I've ever visited. I feel very sorry for the employees.

Since the Goldener Anker is touted as the best hotel in Bayreuth, we thought that you couldn't go wrong with the hotel. But you can pretty much go wrong with this choice for a room price of €250 per night.The view from the window was not enough to enjoy. But that is probably due to the centuries-old architecture of the house.However, major accident areas such as loose stair runners or sharp-edged furnishings were not repaired!!!No missing lamps in the bathroom were replaced within three days and the mold infestation was not eliminated.We met 5 concierges during our time, 3 of whom didn't understand German and one of whom wasn't really interested in our complaints. So we even wrote a letter to the management to present our complaints about material defects. But neither the management nor any other manager contacted us.Breakfast was a real adventure. You are served and can choose from the menu. (One should not forget that the Goldener Anker advertises itself as an exquisite hotel.) At breakfast the cheese choice was Camembert, semi-hard cheese and cream cheese. The Camembert that was brought was the size of a fingernail and the sliced cheese consisted of 3 slices of one type of cheese. The best was the pickled Fichtelgebirge trout. It was a slice of marinated, fatty salmon. The breakfast staff was friendly and tried hard, but if there is nothing in the kitchen, you cannot fulfill the guests' wishes. All in all, the selection was more than limited and better in every youth hostel.So in the end we only had to apply §441 BGB.So: Think about whether you want to book a well-known but bad hotel or whether you would rather book other very good hotels in Bayreuth that do not boast of being “a unique place” and having “good cuisine” and “everyday We look forward once again to welcoming our guests to the Boutique Hotel Goldener Anker in the heart of Bayreuth.” The Golden Anchor is a disaster.

Terrible food. Michelin star was once.The restaurant, which is currently only open during the festival season due to a lack of staff, offered a 3- or 4-course menu for a price of 98 or 115 EUR. Since we still had a voucher from 2020 and this time was the only way to redeem it, we reserved a table.When we made the reservation, we assumed we were festival guests (asked when our opera ended and which hotel we were staying in). It's just stupid that we're from Bayreuth.Because of the operas, the restaurant opened very late, around 8 p.m. We were greeted by a waiter who was completely soaked in sweat (totally disgusting). The clientele was 70+, which was to be expected for the festival season. We chose the main course and dessert from the menu. The aperitif offered, 0.2 liters of champagne for EUR 17 per glass, was the first hit.But the highlight was the main course. According to the menu, the “Carré of Iberico pork with chanterelles à la crème and Bohemian bread dumplings”. What we were served after a while did not correspond to our expectations of star cuisine at all. Two pieces of pink, sous vide cooked, completely unseasoned pork with a spongy consistency, a couple of slices of bread dumpling and a mediocre chanterelle cream sauce. For 49 EUR per person!!! So honestly. If this is supposed to be star cuisine, then I really don't know what to do. Maybe I don't understand this type of cuisine either. But it was just terrible. The crowning glory was the apricot tart, which tasted more sour than anything else. A total failure.I don't think anyone here has cooked star cuisine. A few days after our visit, I found out that the chef who was responsible for the Michelin star had long since left because the owner didn't give him the freedom he needed for his culinary creativity.This well-known hotel and restaurant has remained in the past. If the owner doesn't change things quickly, this place is condemned to death.
