The stay in the oldest city of Trier was wonderful, the hotel was a complete disaster. It actually started very well, when we checked in, the lady at reception was just calling a customer who had left that he had left his cell phone cable in the room. Chapeau... I thought to myself, what a great service. In the evening it was said that the restaurant would be open until 10 p.m. On the first evening back from the city, we wanted to have a nice glass of red wine. This time not from the Moselle, as we had already been drinking and tasting great wines from the region all day, but we wanted to enjoy a richer, heavy red wine to “go to bed with”. The card says... Italian red wine…Spanish red wine…. It's good that the two countries only have one red wine each, so you just know what you're getting. And when you asked what wine there was, they said... there's no red wine left, it's just out. Then there was a beer at the end, also good. Rooms are clean and ok, but very noisy and you can hear everyone walking back and forth in the hallway. The next morning the breakfast buffet... I've never experienced such a loveless, slapdash meal. A “humiliation” for my gastro heart... an insult to every restaurateur. It is well known that there is a shortage of skilled workers everywhere at the moment. But such careless handling of food and such presentation (worse than in a military barracks)… terrible. And on the second evening a nightcap... not possible because they closed at 9.30 p.m.... someone could still ask for a red wine J My conclusion... Trier again at any time, a beautiful city, Schröder's Stadtwaldhotel... unfortunately never again. A real shame for the catering industry. Sorry, but that had to be written/said once.

Overall quite ok, rooms are well equipped and staff is very friendly. The cleanliness of the room itself was okay, but the bathroom was almost a bit dingy, the transition from the bathroom to the room the floor was very dirty, there was a large water mark under the sink and the floor tiles and joints in the shower were quite dirty. More attention should be paid to cleaning here.

It's a bit noisy, but it's probably one of the cleanest hotels I know.
