We celebrated our wedding in the Volksgarten Restaurant. The employees and the boss contributed significantly to making this day unforgettable for us. The food and service were perfect. Our guests felt comfortable and we would all recommend the location at any time.

We only stayed there for one night and wouldn't do it again.It actually started with the fact that the hallway smelled terribly of garbage. It came from the trash bags lying carelessly down the hall. When we arrived in the aging double room, we discovered that the television or receiver wasn't working. An employee (presumably the cook because of his work clothes) tried to take care of the problem. Without success. There was no other room due to a wedding party. A few more comments on this later.At dinner: A look at the menu showed, shockingly, that almost all dishes contained colorings (A), preservatives (B), antioxidants (C) and/or flavor enhancers (D) ... even the Wiener-style schnitzel, which was only breaded . Where are the C and D in there... in the breadcrumbs??? In addition, some dishes contained phosphate, sulfur or quinine. None of the dishes on the menu were free of all of this. Mind you: the letters were on the main courses, not on the accompanying salads, which perhaps contain these ingredients because of the salad dressing you bought. The food tasted mediocre (although it must be praised that the schnitzels were made in the kitchen). I still can't understand why there are people who praise this food.Oh yes, it's also worth mentioning. The table (outside) we were allowed to choose was dirty...and I don't mean dust kicked up from farmers' fields. I asked the employee to clean the table. She did that too, with no result, because the stains or grime from days were still on the table (even in the morning, by the way).During the night we heard the wedding party celebrating, which personally bothered me less (because the room was a bit away) than the conversations of the employees in the courtyard, directly below our window. They smoked there and the smell wafted into the open room (under the roof - 30° outside). And not only that, the employees threw garbage or something else into the large plastic containers standing under the window and kept letting the big flap fall down instead of closing it quietly. It was already after 11 p.m.In the morning there was the usual breakfast, but unfortunately neither yoghurt nor muesli. But some fruit. The table was already set, the orange juice was already in the glass and an ice-cold egg had been boiled (presumably the day before). I complained about this and asked the employee if she would like to eat an ice-cold egg for breakfast. She then said that it was orders from the boss. She then cooked me and my husband a fresh egg. When I went to sprinkle it with salt, I discovered that the metal straw on top was dirty. I took another shaker from the neighboring table (pepper)...this one was dirty too. Even the menus from the night before were dirty. The dirt that had been cleaned from the room was lying in the counter area and the dirty mop was also there. The counter was crispy and there were cleaning products and insect spray on the shelves at the top right of the drinks and a dirty drying towel next to the clean glasses. Now I was pissed off and wanted to speak to the boss. That was a long time coming. In the meantime we changed clothes (cycling clothes) and came down with our luggage. Boss still not there. The employee explained to us that he had other things to do but that we didn't have to pay the bill. The owner would rather forego €116 than deal with the problems in his hotel.Well, that's how it works too. We'll never come back here.

We were guests there for the medieval festival. The event itself was a delight, the organizer and his team did a good job.The hotel is located directly on the Volksgarten festival grounds. Although you can see here and there that the decades have left their mark, everything is still clean and tidy.You have to like the austere but friendly charm of the operator and his crew.When it comes to culinary options, a rich breakfast awaited us every morning and the kitchen in the restaurant really impressed us.All in all, we will see that we can be guests there again at the festival in 2025.

Was there for a wedding. Food was good, service left something to be desired. Partially bored and unfriendly.

Great environment. For adults to celebrate, go for a walk and for children to play.

Nice park on the outskirts of the city, lots of peace and quiet as there are fewer walkers. Tall trees, surrounded by fields and meadows.
