We were forced to spend one night in room 111 which had black mould growing around the A/C vent. What made matters worse was the fact the room like all the other bedrooms was hotter than an oven, with no ventilation or relief from the AC. Our window didn't even open so we were melting all night and had to keep.opening our bedroom door to let cool air in from the corridor.Room 111 is a health hazard. Also the room was tiny with no where to put oursuitcase, so it blocked the entrance to the bathroom and there was nowhere for our clothes except for a small wardrobe with a couple of hangers.i cannot believe they expected a couple to stay there for a week. Cmon.We were moved to a different room that did have a least some floor space between the bed and the wardrobe for a suitcase. It appeared to be mould free but the walls were definitely damp. Again no existent AC so when we were in the room we had to keep our door wedged open to let cool air in.On the second day, cleaning staff just let themselves into our room - didn't knock or anything before bursting in. Like WTF, we were both in bed right opposite the door.Luckily we hadn't planned to spend much time in the room.I'm giving them one star for moving us and for the fact they had a coffee machine in the lobby. No milk mind you, just powder smh.Great location but you need to fix the mould issue - it's unsafe and you can't expect your guests to be exposed to that - and invest in some clothing storage or something for people staying longer than a few days.

Stayed 2 nights in March. Amazing location, within walking distance to a wide variety of places and attractions. Rooms were nice and clean and the minimal staff was always friendly and willing to help.

I was a bit worried about having booked here as I saw a few bad reviews but it was absolutely great. It is basic but clean, friendly staff, and a good location for a very reasonable price.

I had an awful experience at the Iron Horse. The hotel itself is located in a good spot and the room was nice. The service I experienced from the lady working at the front desk and the maid service was atrocious and ruined my whole stay. The night before I checked out I was sent an email with an option for online checkout. I filled out the form and it gave me a drop down list of times when I would like to checkout so I proceed to choose 1-2pm. The next morning we had a man enter our room twice without our permission asking when we are leaving. Then when I went to checkout I was informed by the lady at the front desk that I would have to pay a late checkout fee. I explained my situation and the form I filled out online and then she proceed to tell me that doesn’t matter and 11am is a standard checkout at all hotels. I felt like I was talking to a robot. Zero compassion or understanding and gave me the impression this wasn’t the first time she has done this. I would avoid this place at all costs.

Very affordable hotel where everything is within a 25 minute walk, (city center and the Jordaan district). Nice room with the only downside: the pillow, which was not very comfortable. I definitely recommend :)
