I felt SO UNSAFE HERE. I was followed by a man throughout the downstairs bar and was touched and poked by staff members during the halloween party. On top of this I had been feeling ill and had asked the bar tender for a bottle of water and he got right in my face and started yelling at me telling me to get out of his way. Horrible experience. Not safe for women!!

The Winston provided a fantastic experience.While it’s on the pricier side compared to others, it’s absolutely worth it! The atmosphere is vibrant, with spacious common areas to meet new people. The staff is friendly and incredibly helpful, offering local tips and organizing fun events. The amenities are great. The in-house bar and restaurant were also great. The discounts offered for food was a great touch. Plus, the location is perfect for exploring all of Amsterdam. I will be back soon!

Great hostel in a prime location, modern furnishings, decent beds that don't make any noise when you come into the accommodation later. The bar is busy every evening. The terrace is closed from 11 p.m., so it's quieter then. I can only recommend it.

"I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this establishment. The evening receptionist was very unpleasant and spoke to me in a shocking manner. Her attitude was unacceptable, and I did not feel respected as a guest. Additionally, the room was far too noisy, which made the stay even more uncomfortable. I strongly advise against staying here."

Very mediocre dorms.Mattrasses too hard, 0 noise isolation by a window (without curtains which let too much light in) next to an alley, loud ventilation, no shower outside room (great water flow) and no shelf to put anything inside and small sinks.It was pretty clean.Bar is good.Staff told me I should attend my drink since they take almost full one away without supervisor within minutes.Drinks are pretty expensive except for discounted ones.Met mainly nice people.

The staff is very unhelpful. My flight got canceled and I arrived a day later than expected. I already had called Chase reservations desk who tried reaching out to hostel but the hostel didn’t pickup the call. Chase let me know they dropped an email informing them the same. When I arrived a day later they had voided my reservation and said they will reinstate if I can show any proof that Chase told me so in an email but they were not willing to check their own email. I had to pay for a new reservation now. When I asked if I’ll be able to check-in at 9 am with new reservation they said I can checkin if I book a costlier room but not if I book 8 people dorm. They weren’t also open to keep the luggage while I didn’t have the room. They have commercialized everything. Instead of having a hostel style luggage room as a service they have a pay and store luggage room. Some dorm rooms might be too high to climb. My dorm was 3rd floor with 48 steep and narrow stairs, if you have a suitcase or large bag you might be in for a workout. Similarly when I asked if I could get 30min late checkout I was denied because I was in the cheapest dorm.Good location, decent rooms, very steep stairs, unfriendly staff, very commercial, no hostel facilities - kitchen, laundry, etc.

I was less than pleased with my experience at this hostel. A big part of it was definitely my mistake in not doing enough research so I will take blame there but I just think others should look into other, much better options if they’re considering staying here. You get absolutely no amenities so you’re paying for just a bed and a locker which would be fine if they weren’t charging what they were. There’s no kitchen or common area in the hostel so you pretty much need to befriend your roommates or that’s it. They claim the adjacent bar is a common space but it’s pretty impossible to MAKE friends there because the music is always so loud even during the day and the vibe is much more club like. I went with a friend so I was fine but I definitely wouldn’t recommend solo travelers go here. We switched to the Flying Pig hostel after because there was just no atmosphere in the hostel or any activities they arranged, and had a much better time for the price we paid. Disappointing, because we had a great time at this chain in Berlin but would never recommend this location. They really harp on their location but there are dozens of better options within two blocks. Wish I could put this review on Hostelworld too to warn people but I booked direct so I hope someone heeds my experience.

My experience was beautiful, I extended my stay because I really felt comfortable even though they were shared rooms.Noelia at the reception was a sweetheart, super friendly! And the guys at the bar are also very friendly!! I would go again without a doubt!

The staff is arrogant and racist, I was hostel guest and went to bar but after 1 hour a security guy started kicking and pushing suddenly 2nd security attacked on me and stabbed me dragging me to the door treated like dog and abused me. I didn't touch anyone or even talked to anyone i am surprised how the complaint raised, I explained to hostel staff but they took it very normal,Be aware if you are not blond. Don't stay in this hostel

Pretty good hostel for a cheap price. People at the reception are helpful and nice. Hostel rooms are decently clean. The biggest minus points are the noise and smell on the street (but that's all of Amsterdam).

I stayed here for three nights with four friends. One of us was not yet 18 years old, but his birthday would be next month. After our first day we tried to check in but couldn't. We went to reception where we were told that we would be evicted from the room the next day and had to find another hostel. We found this very inappropriate. Even though they made the mistake of letting us stay, they decided to kick us out. Fortunately, we did get our money back, but we will certainly never come back here again.

So 3 girls of 18 years ( and one 17year and 10 months) where refues, kicked out the hostel from 400 km from home.A Real Shame. it was booked it was payed and they you are kicked out !Ps if you think that there was emotion and help from there side and they did speak national language of Netherlads ( Dutch)Twice Nope.
