Not clean at all!! I've been to so many hostels, that one is by far the worst. Not enough toilets and showers, small fridges, no kitchen, small lockers per bed so if you are two then you have just one locker where a backpack can barely fit so people leave their stuff in the room that get messy. Small place to sit and relax, everything is small in that hostel. Feels like a joke. It was during ADE festival. Totally overpriced. Only I liked the pod with light, usb charger and curtain for good privacy. Location is in front of a bus stop, near city center and train station and easy access to Amsterdam.

I booked in advance and paid 20 Euros a night for a standard room with 17 pods. Definitely one of the cheapest places to sleep in the Netherlands. My observations: it's a very small place, in my opinion too small to host so many people. They have a small living room on the 2nd floor where you can work on a table with 4 chairs. There are 2 small tables on the ground floor with 2 chairs each. There are 6 toilets, divided over 3 floors, 3 for the ladies and 3 for the men. Most of the times I wanted to go, they were all occupied. Also if you went in most of the times the toilet was not flushed, I have no idea why people do not flush. It is not possible to prepare a hot meal here. They have a refrigator on every floor, but they need more, they are too small and completely overloaded. If you open the door stuff is rolling out and a lot of stuff inside is outdated and smelling. There is no elevator but a very small and steep stairway. On the 2nd (top) floor there is a small place to sit and relax on the ground with soft bags. The rooms have no lock. Inside the rooms you sleep in a small pod which gives you a sense of privacy. The pod has a curtain, a switch to turn on/off the light and a small hook. Also 2 usb connections, USB and USB-C, no electricity outlet. You get clean bed linnen when you check-in. Inside the pods when the curtain is closed it can get very warm and it seems that there is too little oxygen flow, since I experienced dizziness and nausea. They have lockers with a pincode outside the rooms in the hallway, the height is ok, but the width is very small, even a small backpack hardly fits in. A suitcase or trolley will never fit. The reception is open 24 hours, there is no check when you enter, you can just walk in. At the reception there is a small couch and a table, also some machines to get some snacks and drinks. There is little to no interaction with visiting people or staff, even a simple greeting like hello or goodmorning seems too much if you don't take the iniative and most of the times the return is zero. Most people walking around look very grumpy and not happy. It's like a lot of Hostels I visited, they give the impression of positivity, happyness, hospitality and social interactions, but most people are isolated or isolated within a travelling group. The separated showers for men and women are on the groundfloor, so you have to go down to shower. There is a small outdoor terrace with a table. Eating, drinking, smoking is not allowed inside your pod, with the exception of water. Smoking, vaping, drinking any kind of alcohol, doing any kind of soft or hard drugs are strictly forbidden. Even rolling a cigarette or joint is not allowed inside. During my stay I did not notice any daily cleaning, so not sure how they keep this place clean? They have free WiFi but the signal is sometimes very low. On Sunday nights they have a movienight from 8-11PM with free snacks and soft drinks. The location is approx. 15 - 20 min. walk from the main train station, but busses are stopping very close to the entrance. Check google maps for any destination you want to visit. Amsterdam is not close by so you need to take public transport or the very expensive Bolt, Uber or another taxi service, or rent a car, although parking in Amsterdam is very expensive. The city center and a new shopping center are very close by, max. 10 min. walk. If you plan to stay longer search for the Action a very cheap store which has almost everything from A brands, it is a 15-20 min walk. Across the Hostel entrance there is a coffeeshop, so you don't have to go to Amsterdam for that, unless you want to visit the Mike Tyson coffeeshop. Nearby many massagesalons and hairdressers. There is a laundrette close by, but quite expensive. There is a 24/7 gym near the shopping center where you can buy a 6 day pass for 50 Euros. Also a big ATM store nearby that shopping center with enough ATM's to withdraw your money.

Well... I'm going to talk about my first impression, to facility the rent towels €5 could be a little cheaper (€3). The toilet needs to be cleaner constantly because the can of paper all the time was fulllllll, the shower needs something to sit. It's not too close to Amsterdam.

If I had to give 5 stars that would be for the lovely receptionist and location near the city center of Pumerend. Now let's get into it. We stayed two nights there because Amsterdam itself was too expensive during the ADE festival in which the hostel took advantage of. However for the price we paid it was completely off. Too overpriced for the service delivered. By 10AM toilets and showers were still filthy. There were also some checkouts during our stay and the room remained uncleaned, at least the floor could have been hoovered? In the room itself, the pod is clever, but it's missing coat and towels hangers, maybe extra shelves and lockers because one tiny locker for 2 is clearly not enough.

I was here for 10 days in June. I chose this hostel based on the price, and I can safely say it is a great choice for solo travelers who want a good deal near Amsterdam. There is a bus stop right outside that takes you to the subway system, which brings you to Amsterdam Centraal train station, right in the center of Amsterdam. As a side note, don't miss the last bus like I did, which is around 1am. Purmerend itself is a quiet suburb of the city which has lots of shopping and walkability. I forgot the names of the front desk workers, however they were all AMAZING!!! They really went above and beyond to help with making sure I had the best time possible in the country, not just at the hostel.
