We stayed in the youth hostel with our children's families for a week during the autumn holidays of 2024 with 9 people. The food was quite good but the stay was a disaster. The only place where you can sit comfortably is the bistro, but it was closed for five days of the seven days we were there. In the evening you can only spend time in the dining room, which is simply uncomfortable. The rooms in the basement are extremely loud and you can hear every word from the neighboring rooms. Most of the equipment such as table football etc. was out of order. The price-performance ratio is definitely not right in this youth hostel.

A week of family vacation in August for four in an 8-bed room. Good food with a rich breakfast and dinner, easy to reach from the ferry. Unfortunately, the Germany ticket is not valid on the island. Very beautiful beaches and Norderney is easy to explore by bike (there are various rental shops).The only shame in the youth hostel itself was that there were no chairs for children under one year old who cannot yet sit up on their own. It was a bit stressful having the child on my lap while eating.

The youth hostel was great, everyone was very friendly and the food was great! Unfortunately, cleanliness is somewhat limited due to a lack of staff. We will be back.

We have just come back from our family vacation and are super happy about our wonderful vacation in the youth hostel! This was our second time there and we can only recommend everyone to visit Norderney and this youth hostel. The rooms, the food and the team, especially Katja!, are simply outstanding! There is everything your heart desires, the team always has a good tip ready and the children make friends very quickly and are kept busy.Thank you very much - we are already planning our next trip!

Unfortunately we didn't get a room in the DJH, but: we were able to eat delicious food... and at a great price. Even "non-members" can eat there... drinks and second helpings included for €12.20... unbeatable (5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.)

We have just returned from our family vacation and were thrilled (once again) with the youth hostel! The rooms are spacious and equipped with a table and chairs. The shower and toilet were separate, which is always very practical for four people. Our room was clean. The only drawback is the number of few sockets in the room.The staff is super friendly and always very nice!

The five of us party makers are currently on the way back from our wonderful Norderney vacation at the DJH youth hostel. We especially want to thank Petra, who welcomed us with an open heart right from the start. That's why we gave her two orange smoothies. Petra was super cool and we felt very comfortable with her, so she should get a raise and an award for the best hostel mother. The room was very tidy and hygienic. We had our own bathroom with a shower which was great. Staying out longer wasn't a problem so we could party on the beach until morning.Tips:- It's better to eat outside in the evening- Drink cocoa in the morning- Rent bikes from Basti (Rad Toni).Best regardsMia, Yolanda, Julie, Silas & Henri

Yellow water lies that it is healthy. Is not it. Service listens to you and then talks to you. Rooms quite good could be better the place where the youth hostel was is very good. To eat good cocoa you have to pay 1.50.

In order to store the bike in a dry place you have to go down stairs into the bike cellar. Unfortunately that doesn't work with my heavy e-bike. It had to stay outside in the rain.Otherwise everything is okay. Delicious food.

We liked it very much.From the reception desk to the rooms (small limitation: not enough storage space, hooks in the shower and bathroom)Delicious food and nice atmosphere.However, the large intermediate doors close very loudly and if you have a room there, you can hear it late at night. Maybe. are there ways to change thatIn any case, we would love to come back

Hello dear DJH Youth Hostel Norderney,We went on a school trip with them for a week...When we arrived the impression was better than expected. The lower floor completely met our requirements!There was a pool table, a nice dining area and a ping pong table in the basement.There were nice common rooms on the first and second floors and also a cinema room.You could borrow games at the reception.But when we reached the last floor we saw our room 304.At first glance everything seemed fine to us.However, when we found out that the four-person room next to us had to share a bathroom with our six-person room, the fun was over.Although there was still a sink in our room, it was difficult to take a shower…It was too narrow!The cleanliness was limited, from smeared walls with boogers to old, used deodorant under the dresser, everything was there!There wasn't enough soap and toilet paper; after all, one roll isn't enough for a room of 6 + 4. But you could get something new at the reception…Ultimately, we recommend the youth hostel, just because of its proximity to the city center and the beach!Kind regards 👋

We stayed here for a week in March. The room was spacious and clean, as was the bathroom and toilet (separate). Unfortunately there is no socket in the toilet. Unfortunately the beds weren't very comfortable. The breakfast was always very good. At dinner you always had to be there very early, the main course and side dish were sometimes served after 40 minutes or sooner - that's better. The staff was very friendly. But we won't go there again, for the price (>€50 per person per night) you also get a holiday room and you can eat in the evening whenever you want.

3 classes and I were here for a school trip for five days.The location of the hostel is very close to the city and the beach.The employees were mostly nice.The concept of having breakfast once in the morning and eating warm in the evening is well thought out for school trips or vacations with a lot of program. You can borrow a refillable bottle and make “lunch boxes” for the entire day. But it's very disappointing not to get good food after a long day. The food was varied and always featured the food from the day before, so you had several options. But it wasn't really tasty or good. Many have complained of stomach pain after eating. Most of the time the food tasted like warmed up food from the fridge.In the evening there was always warm food, salad and dessert!The dining area is set up similar to a buffet. Unfortunately it was a little tight.The food is not very religion friendly as none of it was Halal or Kosher. Really a shame.During these five days, I and many others only ate a warm meal there once. A water dispenser could be used all day. You could only get coffee, cocoa or hot water during your meal or you had to pay €0.50. I thought it was a shame because I didn't want to pay for hot water (for five minutes of noodles) because the actual food didn't taste good.The dining area is quite large. Unfortunately, part of it was completed.Internet or free WiFi was only available in the dining area and in the lobby. Unfortunately there was no internet in the rooms.When we arrived (in the rooms), some rooms were still a little dirty. A bag of candy peeked out from under my mattress.The rooms that were available to us were rooms with 8 or 5 beds. The rooms look very crowded and it was really cramped in the rooms. The walls of the rooms were all very thin and you could hear a lot of things. In some 8-bed rooms there were only two sockets, which is far too few. In some 5-bed rooms there were 5 sockets. The closets in the rooms looked like lockers and were far too small. In the rooms with 8 beds there was a toilet and a room with a shower. In the rooms with 5 beds there was only one room with everything in it. Unfortunately it was so small that you couldn't open the door completely because it hit the toilet.The soap was new and packaged, but unfortunately not a good soap. That's why most people bought their own soap. The toilet paper was very very thin. Most people bought that from outside too. Towels were not available.The emergency exits were open at all times. This made a break-in possible. Money was stolen and it was only when the police arrived that the emergency exits were locked from the outside. For the rest of the week, none of us felt safe in our rooms. Luckily you could lock the room doors.The small souvenir shop next to reception was beautifully designed and had very nice items. Some things were a bit overpriced and some things were quite cheap.If you just need a place to sleep, then the youth hostel is ideal. If you want to go on a real vacation or a school trip, then I would rather go to another youth hostel.

The DJH is no longer suitable for adults to stay in. At 60 years old and 1.85 m tall, I had a bunk bed that was 90 cm wide. The single room meant the sole use of a very small room with 4 beds and 4 chairs. There was also only one socket at the door in the entire room and no WiFi in the entire bed block. For over 70 E/night there was no hairdryer, no towels and no hand soap (that should be self-evident after the Corona experience). The full board included is the possibility of taking bread/rolls/fruit with you in the morning for the day - and there is almost no variety. In the evening there is a (usually very good) meal. There are no retreats or rooms in which work can be done in peace. Everything takes place in and around the dining room, which is very busy with school classes and other travelers. The "Bistro" was closed the whole time. Positive: The staff is friendly and helpful. Conclusion: if you have few demands on accommodation and are not dependent on peace and quiet or WiFi, you can stay here comparatively cheaply.

The room was okay, we had to share it on the school trip but everyone had their own bed. Own bathroom with shower and toilet was also quite good, some of the roof panels were loose and you could easily lift them up. The breakfast and dinner were to my liking and there was something different every day. Just a few minutes walk to the nearest supermarket, city center and beach. Otherwise it was a good time. There were also party rooms and a vending machine downstairs.
