Upleven - Hotel für Zeit in Stille

I booked a room for two nights today, there were still two rooms available.I was looking forward to my stay from January 4th to January 6th, 2024.Two hours later I receive a cancellation from the hotel saying it was a system error and they are fully booked.This is problematic because I canceled another appointment specifically for this.Something like this is unprofessional and shouldn't happen like this.

A very special place. A variant between a hotel and a monastery. Let your soul dangle or heal... Meditate, walk by the sea... Without a cell phone and everything is very quiet or still. Very attentive and friendly staff. Shared meals at long tables - alone or in community. The food is vegetarian and I really enjoyed it. Take time off.

The Upleven is more than just a hotel! It's a magical place on top of a dike right on the North Sea coast.I arrived there and was immediately warmly welcomed by lovely Julia. I immediately felt at home. You put your street shoes on a shoe rack and put on slippers. You also usually walk around there in comfortable clothes (jogging suit or similar). Since I wanted to avoid social media completely, I handed my cell phone over to reception and got a small digital alarm clock, which I needed so that I couldn't do the first meditation in the morning at 6:30 a.m to miss.The rooms are simply and simply furnished. Overall, Upleven has something of a modern monastery about it, which I mean in an absolutely positive way! The meditation room is full of energy. 6 meditations are offered daily. One of them is guided, the rest are silent. 30 minutes each. This powerful room also has a huge singing bowl that absolutely impressed me. It opens and ends the meditation.The meal together (with all guests and employees) is rung in with a bell. It is sustainable and vegetarian or vegan. Although I am a meat eater, I always felt full that weekend and was very enthusiastic about the great dishes that were lovingly prepared there. Tea and coffee are also available at any time. Next to the dining room there is a great winter garden with a view of the sea. There you will find comfortable armchairs and various books on the subject of mindfulness, positive psychology and of course books by Bodo Janssen. There is silence in this room and, like in all other rooms, it is a cell phone-free zone.For guests who want to remain silent while eating, there are separate tables and the option of putting on a red ribbon so that the other guests know.It's nice that Upleven is a place where you can find like-minded people with whom you can have very valuable conversations. There is a family atmosphere! A place where you can just be. No duties, no stress, just time to relax, read, write, sort your thoughts and find yourself. "Silence, because only in it can change occur." There is something absolutely true about that. I took a lot with me from there and still notice how it does me good in the long term.I will definitely come again! 🤍

A great place to find yourself. Meditation helps a lot and it feels good to get involved in it. The location right on the dike is just beautiful.

A very special hotel monastery. Everyone is on a first-name basis, rooms with a view of the sea or mudflats, eating together at long tables, meditation, guided or silent in a very beautiful room. I enjoyed the vegetarian and varied food very much. And twice a day with bare feet in the mudflats. All in all, it was 5 days of pure relaxation in and around Upleven.

An unusual concept and it worked really well for me as it is. The house was like a fortress for me where I could retreat. The house doesn't ask anything of you - great. Right by the sea, go to the mudflats, walk over the dike, go into the village or have a chat with the locals at the booth. I'll be back <3

A great environment, great location, but the price-performance ratio is not right. In my opinion, the lack of equipment and the basic catering are not reflected in the price.

Great location and view.The lounges are very nicely designed.Food was delicious, although no options at lunch/evening and overall “simple” but healthy food.Unfortunately, there is no possibility of using the existing, but not maintained, outdoor area. Like the balconies, this one “runs away” without being cared for. This is a total shame. It's understandable that you don't want to "attract" day-trippers looking for coffee/cake, but a beautiful and, above all, well-kept and used outdoor area would be important for hotel visitors.Maintenance of the bathroom is also necessary (defective soap dispenser; defective holder for towels.).It would also be desirable if not only - for some inexplicable reason - one toilet (1!) was open to everyone in the common areas, and the regular toilets for men and women were consistently closed.The place offers an incredible amount of potential and peace. It would be nice if the house/place itself received even more attention and more “space” was created for retreat and well-being.

Very nicely located. Not far from the beach. There is also a campsite there for mobile homes.
