Today we landed at the Gasthof Kanzlersgrund on the way from southern Germany to Saxony-Anhalt and were delighted by the traditional food, friendliness and hospitality.It wasn't that easy to find an open restaurant and we talked to the staff about it. It's not very easy for restaurateurs these days. Aftermath of Corona increased purchasing and energy prices...Thank you that a restaurant like this still exists. We enjoyed the time in beautiful nature!

We were hiking as a group all day and arrived at the inn around 5:15 p.m. after pre-ordering. The prices of the food were an absolute disgrace. On my kind!! When I asked if there was a printing error in the dumpling with sauce for €17.10, I was immediately asked if I didn't know how much potatoes cost. I then decided on a ragout fin which consisted of beef and chicken, normal would be chicken or Pork. After our initial inquiry, the waitress was very unfriendly, even when we wanted to pay she simply made us wait and instead talked to people she obviously knew. The food was good, it's fair to say, but I won't recommend this restaurant to anyone..

On May 19, 2024 we arrived at Kanzlersgrund shortly before 2 p.m. and the innkeeper closed and locked the door right in front of us. He probably saw us through the window and then hurried to get to the door before us. He didn't say anything or say hello. I can understand that the kitchen might have already closed, but he could have told us that and at least offered one more drink.According to the Internet, the restaurant would be open until 2:30 p.m. and it says: Opening times may vary. So don't stop by spontaneously, you never know whether it's open or not. There were only two of us and not a huge group. We then sat down on the terrace and ate our own food. At least we weren't chased away there.I thought the restaurants were happy about guests and sales. Unfortunately, you are wrong about the Chancellor's reason. I won't go there again, there are plenty of other inns and huts that are still happy to welcome guests and where you are warmly welcomed.

Passed by on the way home from a trip and decided to stop for dinner. Very friendly welcome and fast, friendly service. The food was excellent and more than sufficient. I ate my best Thuringian dumplings to date at the inn. The roast venison and the roulade were excellent. Price/performance is appropriate for the very good quality and not excessive. The concept is coherent. Keep it up. Happy to come back at any time, I can highly recommend the inn.

Service is friendly and quick. For a meal (schnitzel) that costs over €17, I simply don't expect frozen croquettes and when I order a drink, I don't automatically want it in the largest version available.
