Our stay at Elgersburg was simply fantastic! We would particularly like to emphasize the wonderful hospitality of the landlady, who pampered us from start to finish. You don't just feel like a guest here, you feel warmly welcomed and cared for.Our room was a real highlight: tastefully furnished and equipped with an incredibly beautiful, modern bathroom that left nothing to be desired. A place to feel good and relax!The pampering breakfast exceeded all expectations. The variety and quality of the food was fantastic, everything was lovingly prepared and fresh. I thought it was great that great consideration was given to allergies - a rarity that made the start of the day even more pleasant for us.We will definitely come back and can recommend Elgersburg with a clear conscience! A place that invites you to linger and a host who puts her heart and passion into her work - thank you very much for this unforgettable experience!

Bottom line upfront: "A true Pearl of Thuringian Forest"!The castle is located close enough to Autobahn (if you can survive "Baustelle"). Great place to stay, organize or participate into social events (weddings, corporate events, etc.), dining (and "breakfasting") out. Staff is very friendly and helpful without obsequiousness and importunity. Unexpectedly spacious parking by the southern castle wall.Make reservations for anything ahead of time!

On the occasion of my 70th birthday and 30th wedding anniversary, this was a disappointment!!!!! 4 nights no cleaning of the room, the breakfast, Loriot would say, very clear.A recommendation for a restaurant for our special occasion was a destination restaurant and the food, well. Complaints via email will not be responded to. We wanted to leave early, I had a bad flu, a high fever and at home at the doctor's it was Corona. A contact person was not available. We would have liked to spend our money somewhere else. I definitely won't come here again!!!!!!

Once a fairy tale and back. This magical hotel is extremely impressive. It hardly leaves anything to be desired.Maybe a pool in hot weather. 🙃When I first saw the breakfast room I almost had tears in my eyes.We stayed 2 nights and felt very comfortable.The lady of the house is very adorable.

An absolutely magical experience!We spent a night at the Schlosshotel Elgersburg and it felt like a journey back in time to another world. As soon as we arrived, when we walked through the impressive castle gate and were personally welcomed, everyday life was completely behind us - the feeling of peace and relaxation was immediately tangible. The view over the Thuringian Forest was simply breathtaking and the location of the hotel offers wonderful proximity to nature.The ambience of the hotel is unique: this authentic castle from the 12th century combines historical elements with modern comfort in an incredibly charming way. The rooms are individually designed, small but very cozy and stylish. Everything is well maintained, clean and furnished with great attention to detail.The breakfast was a real delight – rich and lovingly served. Particularly worth mentioning are the owners of the hotel, who were always approachable and fulfilled every wish with great friendliness and warmth.The journey was also problem-free and we are sure that the castle hotel is worth a special trip at any time of the year, be it autumn or winter. A highlight is the outdoor area, which invites you to linger, as well as the charming ringing of the tower clock, which gives the whole thing a special atmosphere.All in all: A fantastic place to relax and escape from everyday life. We can wholeheartedly recommend the Schlosshotel Elgersburg!

We were there at the beginning of June and we really enjoyed it.Great location and very exclusive.You should definitely book the castle tour to get an impression of the history.Breakfast is not extensive, but very nicely prepared and tasty.

We were there for a weekend in March. It was beautiful! The rooms were very lovingly furnished and very clean. The entire hotel has been designed with a lot of love down to the smallest detail.Great breakfast with great service. In general the staff was very friendly. The hotel is also very dog-friendly. Our dog was very welcome and received blankets, bowls and treats. Theoretically, we didn't have to bring anything with us, as we were even offered dog baskets. We were also able to take him into the breakfast room without any problems.We booked the spa area for one evening. It was also beautifully designed and you have it all to yourself. The bar offers a nice selection of spirits and invites you to socialize. In general there is a family atmosphere there. It was an all-round package and we didn't have to worry about anything. The location of the hotel is quite remote and offers great scenery for walks (especially with dogs). However, the nearest supermarket is a little further away. Therefore, you should think beforehand about where you are going to eat, because the hotel restaurant no longer exists. You definitely have to rely on the car. However, you can also order food to the hotel without any problems.Overall we felt very comfortable!What you should note: The castle tour costs extra, as does the spa area. Drinks at the bar are also billed separately or added to this when checking out. The spa area should be booked early. The rooms don't have refrigerators! Keyword dog food, if it's not exactly dry food. If you specify when booking that you have a dog with you and what you need, the room will be equipped accordingly with blankets etc. But it's also not a problem if you forget it. The hotel is flexible in this regard. Due to the remote location, you should plan in advance where you want to eat in the evening. The reception reserves tables in the restaurants upon request.We want to come back! It was beautiful!

We felt very comfortable and were warmly welcomed. The sauna area and the massages were perfect. The breakfast was varied and very tasty. The rooms were clean. We can only recommend it and will definitely come back.

We stayed in the castle for two nights at Easter with our dog Pepe. I've really seen a lot of hotels in my life, but this was just wonderful! Unique ambience, really cool rooms (which, like the entire hotel area, are lovingly furnished), very familiar and personal atmosphere. In the room there was a letter for our dog, bowls and treats - really great! You can book the sauna area separately and have it completely to yourself. Drinks or home-brewed beer were also brought to the sauna. The terrace was perfect for relaxing after a hike. Oh and of course one more thing: the breakfast was phenomenal! We'll be back :-)!

Just like in a fairy tale 😍 Host Silke fulfills every wish, I miss her breakfast every day. Everything was delicious and prepared with great attention to detail. The rooms are spacious and very nice. Beds 1 A, slept like a princess. The surrounding area is great, unfortunately we were unlucky with the weather, but if you are planning a visit in spring or summer there are many opportunities to explore the area. In the hotel you have the option of booking the wellness area all to yourself, great if you're looking for peace and quietThe host needs his own beer, a recommendation to try this! We felt completely comfortable and are already planning our next stay. It's worth it!

A night in a castle. Wonderful experience. The castle has been lovingly restored. Nothing is missing and yet you feel the history around you. The lords of the castle were very helpful, authentic and very considerate. Every wish was fulfilled for us and our dog. We would be happy to come back.
