We’re locals in the Rheingau and this is one of our favourite places with great food, friendly people and a calm setting in Stephanshausen.

We were here to eat game. A simple but cozy dining room invites you. Our wild boar goulash was delicious, we took some shrink-wrapped wild boar sausages to take home with us. High quality, low budget.

Unfortunately, our room was past its prime. But the bosses were great! Totally nice and accommodating. The home-baked bread was a dream and the game specialties were very tasty. An insider tip for us! Greetings go out to Dexter...:-)

Very friendly, family-run house. Clean rooms. Very good food. Breakfast: homemade bread, wild boar ham, deer and wild boar sausage (all made in-house), eggs, jam, orange juice, tea, coffee. …

Beautiful country inn, nice innkeeper, great breakfast and dinner. The home-baked bread and the game specialties are simply top. The guesthouse is very quiet, so you can relax and go on good excursions from there. We'd love to come back.

We booked for 2 nights through Booking. At check-in, which was supposed to be from 2 p.m., we couldn't find a contact person on all 3 floors. After calling for a while, a Romanian employee came, but she didn't understand a single word of German. With a translator she understood that we had booked. First she took us to a completely musty room, where there was also a dark wooden kitchen from the 50s. We rejected that and even wanted to leave again. Then we got another room, this one without a kitchen and not smelly, but neither vacuumed nor cobwebs removed. The television didn't work either, and the "free" WiFi didn't work either. Only emergency calls were possible.The breakfast, which was included in the price, consisted of 4 small slices of hard cheese, a small corner of Camembert and a glass of indefinable paste, similar to liver sausage, for 2 people. (but it wasn't)! There was also a half-full jar of jam. We were also given a thermos flask with lukewarm coffee. However, after a complaint there was a fresh coffee. The “breakfast” was rounded off with a basket of hard, dried out bread that almost made you suffocate. When we asked if there would be no rolls, we were told by the boss that they always throw the rolls away and therefore there wouldn't be any. In any case, the bread was an imposition! As compensation there was 1 glass of orange juice and a boiled egg.On the second day there was this cheese again, a few thin, dry slices of raw ham and a few slices of indefinable sausage. When we were finished, a boiled egg arrived, probably for dessert! It was known that the television didn't work. We were only told vaguely that they had a complete failure.We were so disappointed with this inn, definitely not again!
