Great place!!!You can have fun with a youth class and do sightseeing/ history and shippings on the river Rhein.I love this place also for bigger festivals with 100 people plus and the main room (knights room - Rittersaal) is extraordinary good. You have a view up und down the river for 20 kms - beautiful on sunny days and they offer big sun protection if needed, cake, coffee plus cake and other beverages.Breakfast / lunch and dinner is on good youth hostel quality.Exploring the city and nearby surrounding is joyful. And there is also a direct stairway to the castle.Mid-age flair, wifi in good quality and history makes this place a remarkable and recommended spot on the map of German’s youth hostels. Also worth a trip for best agers to young adults.Have been here for over 20 years - every year since around 2000 - for around 5 days to enjoy and relax.Don’t miss it!

We had booked an overnight stay in the youth hostel at Stahleck Castle.I found the food delicious. Breakfast was also quite good. At least for a youth hostelThe staff is very friendly and the castle tour was also very well done. What we absolutely didn't like were the rooms!! Some of these are more than run down and urgently need a general overhaul. The rooms and hallways are very noisy and conversations are transmitted several floors upBut it was ok for one night…

Per:- friendly staff- great castle- Playroom for children- beautiful view- quiet location of the castleCons:- Very outdated youth hostel that could urgently be overhauled- Some of the rooms are very run down, which doesn't make it easier to feel comfortable- Very noisy hallways (you can hear conversations from the registration area to the 2nd floorFood is okay - just like a youth hostel (you can't expect too much)The castle is nice for a day trip, but I personally wouldn't recommend the youth hostel

Wonderful views from the top and opportunity to sleep in a castle. But you must know it is a steep 15 minute + walk up stairs and a trail to get there with luggage. We called the recommended taxi service and they arrived in about 30 minutes to drive our party of 5 up to the castle. Pre-booking would be safer if you need this. The hostel is definitely oriented toward younger people or children, as the beds are bunk beds designed to resemble castles. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Taking a Rhein excursion to St Goar was very nice.

Beautiful place. There is a youth hostel in the castle. It costs 35 euros a night. You can stay here for a few days, walk on the vineyard trails and walk on the streets that have not changed for hundreds of years~~ It is really enjoyable.
