Sober reception, around 4:45 p.m. request for a small snack, short clear answer. Dinner from 6:00 p.m. Prices for the location take a lot of getting used to. Beer is still very presumptuous at four euros, wine at €7.20. The host or will should take a look at Das Rennsteigstüberl about 3 km away, maybe he will see what service and friendliness looks like, sorry, unfortunately that is the case.

Here you will be warmly welcomed by the owner in a small, cozy but modern guest room. The menu today consisted of three dishes. Schnitzel (€19.50), 1/2 meter of Thuringian bratwurst (€17.50) and Thuringian sausage platter with bread (€17.50). Bratwurst and schnitzel were very good. I would come here again.

It tasted very good, to my surprise there was even vegetarian options. Dumplings with chanterelle cream sauce with salad. I can only recommend it and would be happy to see more plant-based dishes on the menu! Keep it up!

Beautiful inn where tradition is valued, my father was there for every Ascension Day and I think I will continue the tradition. What I like best is that the old innkeeper still runs the restaurant!!!

We felt very comfortable with the Lutz family. Well-kept and lovingly furnished accommodation. Great food! We'd love to come back.

Beautiful location and very good food, dumplings and roulade almost like grandma's. Friendly hospitality.However, expensive compared to the gourmet region of Upper Franconia.

The inn and guesthouse are 50m apart. The guesthouse is newly built. Double room with bath/shower/WC. Very extensive breakfast in the breakfast room. Often hiking groups, as the guesthouse is located directly on the Rennsteig. Be sure to register by phone in advance. In summer there is often still space for hikers.

We went for lunch last Sunday, of course you can't do it without pre-ordering as it is a popular destination.As always, it was delicious and the boss and his sister were super nice. Always ready for a chat. You can only feel good in such a nice and cozy atmosphere

Unfriendly host - We had hung our wet jackets over the back of the chair. The innkeeper said: "Hang them on the wardrobe, you don't hang your wet clothes on the wall at home either." His calculations are also difficult to understand.

We weren't exactly welcomed in a hospitable manner, after 30km in our bones we were just hungry for something warm. It was made clear to us that lunch was over and we were offered cake. We were checked out by the owners and have probably never seen a hiker before. The beer was carelessly thrown onto the table and we clearly got the feeling of not being welcome.

Update 01/01/2024This time we had dinner here with friends on New Year's Eve - very cozy atmosphere, no loud music, so you could have a good conversation and of course very good food.On New Year's Day we stopped in again for lunch - highly recommended 👍Update: October 31, 2022The inn will be closed for renovation work until around Christmas Eve 2022.Update: May 9, 2021:After a long time we were here again this Sunday and we had bratwurst from the grill and kettle goulash - outside on the meadow with the "required" distance.NOTE in advance:- Monday and Tuesday are days off- Lunch until 1:30 p.mQuaint, down-to-earth restaurant/inn/beer garden almost directly on the Rennsteig with fair prices and fast and friendly service (landlady + landlady).The two of us went there for lunch on a Monday trip. 1/2 meter of Thuringian bratwurst with delicious potato salad + Schwarzbacher raspberry and woodruff soda - what more could you want.Exchanged a few nice words with the innkeeper, chatted with 2 Rennsteig hikers as additional guests and enjoyed the peace and quiet and surroundings.Also worth highlighting is the newly renovated outdoor beer garden.As locals (Neuhaus am Rennweg) we have been here several times and always like to come back 😊👍👍👍.

It's such a great location in such a great location in the Thuringian Forest!Here you will be welcomed with a lot of warmth!You feel very welcome from the start!This is also due to the restaurant, which is chicly furnished in Bavarian style, and the great food!I can't comment on the guesthouse's rooms since I didn't stay there.

We only stopped by to eat so I can't say anything about the rooms. While it kind of felt like we were disturbing and we weren't welcome at first, the food was very nice and the beer was amazing. Maybe we just happened to drop in at a bad time, but just considering the food it's worth a visit.
