Opinions vary... everyone feels differently... However, we personally found the accommodation to be anything but comfortable. After not sleeping for a minute on the first night due to the extremely soft (sagging?) mattresses and even trying to sleep on the floor, we informed the owner about the uncomfortable beds the next morning and asked if another room would be available. The owner repeatedly pointed out that no guest had ever complained, that everyone was always very satisfied (although I see it differently after reading many, many more reviews), and that it was a "matter of feeling" whether a bed was comfortable or not not, you "just don't sleep at home here", the mattresses are new, etc. Unfortunately, changing rooms is not possible that day. Only after we rejected the suggestion that the mattresses could be improved with a pad (?) and expressed our intention that we would prefer to check out early, was it suddenly possible to swap rooms.The cleaner incidentally told us that she couldn't sleep on such mattresses either, only mentioning this in passing...The beds in the other room were much better, not extremely comfortable, but compared to the first night we were at least able to get some sleep.Nevertheless, we will no longer visit the accommodation in the future, although we have been traveling regularly to Carolinensiel for many years and will continue to do so. We had the impression that the owner takes any criticism personally instead of using it as an incentive to make improvements in some areas in order to increase customer satisfaction and to welcome return customers in the long term... But well, "everyone feels differently". I'm sure there will be another comment from the owner here, in which, as with other reviews, he will mention that other guests are satisfied, the mattresses are new, we are just too sensitive or whatever.Mr. S., wonderful, I'm happy for you, at least you don't have to rely on recommendations.You complain that no one speaks to you directly, but only leaves a bad review later. Personally, I'm not surprised.Thank you anyway for your (even if initially reluctant) accommodation and a benevolent suggestion from us for improvement for warm summer nights: mosquito nets on the windows keep all the vermin out and the walls and ceilings free of traces of corpses.Oh well: breakfast is ok, we like baked rolls too. "It's just not like home..." >>> if that were our claim, we wouldn't travel!

If you are looking for or need hotel stars, this is not the right place for you. Nevertheless, it is a hotel that makes you feel comfortable. The strength here lies in the warmth of the owners who are very friendly and helpful and in a good moodtake care of the well-being of the guests.The rooms are large enough, sensible and well equipped. The bathroom is also a good size and has an outside window.The breakfast is quite good and offers a good selection.Then there is the excellent location in the center of Carolinensiel and still very quiet.

You are warmly welcome here as a guest. We had booked the large gable room. This is highly recommended, offers plenty of space, even for watching TV in the evening... totally comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean and in order. The breakfast was very good. The owners and the cleaning lady were always very friendly and accommodating. We'd love to come back.

Great hotel landlords are really nice. Rooms were good and I slept very well there. Breakfast was sufficient, everything was there and sufficient. Coffee was good. We'll stay here again next time

Spontaneously booked a holiday in Carolinensiel and decided on this cozy, family hotel. The room had everything you need: WiFi, TV, small fridge, coffee and kettle, shower with toilet and hairdryer, comfortably furnished. Breakfast (in buffet form) is included in the price: something for everyone, whether vegetables, fruit, cereal or toast, all sorts of rolls, fish, eggs, various types of sausage, orange juice, coffee pot or tea, you should be completely happy.We got lots of insider tips from the host. e.g. bike rental, thermal baths or restaurants.The hosts were super friendly and you felt comfortable. We will definitely come back and wish you all the best and see you soon! 🌊🦭

I made the rating in relation to the price I paid for my stay. That's the only way it's fair. The rooms get full "scores" from me because they are clean and have all the necessary amenities that a traveler needs in a hotel room. The hotelier and his wife were approachable and were able to help me with any questions. The breakfast offering was totally fine. And it was also refilled. And the hotelier can't do anything about the weather :-)

We stayed in Carolinensiel for 3 days at the beginning of October in this cozy little hotel, and we felt completely at home. The owners are very nice people and we enjoyed having a chat with them. The rooms are cozy and sparkling clean, as is the whole hotel. The breakfast buffet was simply great and plentiful, there was something for every taste and lovingly prepared. The location was central, just a stone's throw from the beautiful museum harbor. Should we ever want to go to Carolinensiel again "sneaky", then definitely go back to "Up Diek"! A thank you to the nice owners!

The accommodation doesn't do justice to a hotel.The breakfast looks great in the photos, but unfortunately not in reality. The cold cuts were still quite satisfactory, the fish no longer looked appetizing and the rolls were unacceptable. Even though there were bakers nearby, they were baked rolls that had either been baked for too long or were already old. In any case, they were very hard and solid for breakfast.And there was something else. There was a note in the bathroom according to the photo.This could have been said beforehand.When asked whether cleaning also included making the bed, the answer was: Of course, if you want it more often you have to pay for it.This is unacceptable for a hotel.We cannot recommend this house more highly.

Hotel Up-Diek (holiday period September 19th to September 30th, 2023)Small, cozy hotel, less than 3 minutes from the museum harbor and city center.Very lovely host couple who fulfill your every wish. The staff is very attentive and helpful. The hotel rooms are very clean. Bed linen is changed according to the length of stay, towels every 3 days. Free parking spaces are available.The breakfast is extensive and lovingly designed as a buffet with fruit, various types of rolls, bread, toast, cold cuts, cheese, eggs, scrambled eggs, yoghurt, fruit mixes, treats, etc. Coffee, tea, milk and orange juice are served as drinks for breakfast. If something is missing, just ask!Along the Harle you can reach Harlesiel in about 30 minutes and then you are at the North Sea beach.Other places such as: Neuharlingersiel, Bensersiel, Esens etc. can be easily reached with the guest bus for 1 euro (guest card) per person. Leisure opportunities such as hiking, cycling, etc. are numerous. The hotel owners are also happy to provide information about what else you can do in Carolinensiel and the surrounding area.We definitely enjoyed staying here and will be back next year.Anja & Bernd Köhler
