The hotel canceled the room we had paid for shortly before arrival for dubious reasons, so we were forced to look for other accommodation at very short notice.There was no explanation and no possibility of contact by telephone. The money has not been refunded to us to this day! I can only warn against booking anything there.

Stayed here on the last stage of the Hexenstieg.Apart from the wonderful location, we unfortunately cannot recommend this “hotel”.The service was non-existent and apart from the fact that the room was clean, little good can be said..It is also important that none of the advertised wellness offers are available/functional!But the location is pretty.

Great value for money. standardFacilities, comfortable beds and very clean. The room seemed to have been recently renovated, laminate flooring, modern infrared heating with a separate thermostat, etc. Nice view of the valley.Breakfast really good, individualAssembly must be ordered the day before by 8 p.m. Unfortunately the shower head holder was damaged.

Has nothing to do with the hotel, the entrance area is dingy, the rooms are clean but technically no longer up to date and in disrepair, the shower is moldy. Very unfortunate.

The access to the hotel parking lot is very steep and almost impassable for fully occupied limousines. You can access the hotel via a key box at the entrance. However, the door was constantly open and not locked. The hotel seems very shabby and neglected. The carpet is worn out, the wallpaper e.g. T. solved, a decorative treasure chest in the stairwell serves as a waste glass container and slatted frames, vacuum cleaners and other objects are standing around in the hallway and blocking access to "unknown" rooms. The room was clean but the bathroom wasn't. Layers of lime were piling up in the shower, the ventilation in the bathroom was completely non-functional (in two rooms) and the toilet seat was broken. The building is very noisy, so you can hear what and how your neighbor is doing (including going to the toilet). Breakfast in the neighboring building had to be ordered and was actually quite ok, except for the fact that there was less cold meat as ordered because yogurt wasn't served at all and scrambled eggs cost extra. The advertised sauna area with whirlpool was not in use and had probably been for a long time, as the sauna rooms were used as a storage room and were not really cleaned. Unfortunately, it was not possible to speak to anyone on site as there was no reception, no service staff to be found or a specific contact given. We found no information about the surrounding area, nor the promised bottle of water or information about check-out.

The hotel is getting old. There is no longer a sauna and wellness area, although they are still offered on the Internet.

Very simple hotel. Breakfast must be ordered by 8 p.m. Breakfast in another building. Scrambled eggs are subject to a surcharge. Hardly any television programs. Clean but very old. The picture is the view from the balcony on August 27th, 2023

Idyllic location of the town of Altenbrak, but to award the building a forest hotel with 3 stars 👎 is an absolute disgrace. We were there from Friday to Tuesday and didn't see a responsible person there, let alone... there was no response to calls and emails. The only thing we received, shortly before arrival, was the “key safe code” email. Last but not least...breakfast was 50 meters down the street at the Hotel zum Harzer Jodler. Nevertheless, we had very nice days because we were only there to sleep 😉

I wanted to stay here for one night on my Harzer-hexen-rose hike. Arrived at the hotel, took out the only key in the safe, and went to my room number (I had previously received the room number via message).The key didn't fit and there were noises coming from the room. Long story short. The hotel was overbooked. And I, the last to arrive in the evening, looked into the tube. Of course, no one could be reached by phone, and the neighboring hotel also referred to a telephone number for a hotel in Wernigerode. Also no one available. I canceled in frustration and luckily found something in another house.I just advise against booking here.The outside of the house is very worn out, overgrown, dirty and in an unkempt condition.

So if I had listened to the reviews, I would have canceled and forgone the money. But I drove anyway and was taught otherwise. I also had concerns about self-reception, but it worked. The room "Schloss Wernigerode" was bright, clean and friendly furnished, I only sleep in it anyway because I'm usually on the go all day.There was hair and body shampoo and washing lotion available. Breakfast at the “Harzer Jodlermeister” was 2 minutes away and very good. The staff was a bit unfriendly, but they accommodated every request :-).At the Waldhotel you can only reach the staff via Whatsapp. I was also called back which reassured me.So all in all I had a lovely few Pentecost days in the area. Thank you very much

Bathroom leaves a lot to be desired!!! I had to get the drain in the shower to drain, the fan doesn't work because it's completely clogged...Oh yeah!! The key box with a combination lock was open so everyone could have a key.The room is clean and you can sleep well in the bed.
