Rooms ok, but the food is not convincing. Breakfast is really great but after lunch it just goes downhill. Let's start with the drinks: Water is still ok, but the juice has already started to ferment, not exactly nice if you're traveling with younger children. There's nothing wrong with the salad either, but the main courses aren't exactly appealing. I don't expect freshly baked pancakes in a youth hostel, but please bake the pancakes so that you can eat them. When I wanted to cut mine I had to use enormous force due to the layer of frost and when I was finished I saw the ice crystals. When I asked the staff what was going on, I was ignored. Wraps were also cold and the creme fraiche tasted like detergent. Rooms were really okay but unfortunately relatively small. Bathrooms also mini maximum of 3 people (if one is in the shower) a shame…

Super great team. Friendly, helpful and competent. The breakfast buffet is rich and delicious. The evening buffet was simply delicious and very varied. All around we would come back at any time. You are recommended.

We had a great orchestra weekend in the Meppen youth hostel. The on-site support and service were great, and the booking process before the trip was flawless and completely problem-free. Change requests were implemented immediately. The rooms were clean and the food was healthy and tasty. We'd love to come back next year.

Food and accommodation impeccable.Very courteous staff. Great event - the beer garden with barbecue station, which is open on Thursday and Friday evenings and, most importantly, with music groups from the area.TOP EVENT!

Visited a few youth hostels but Meppen is top overallWhen we travel to Lower Saxony, we are specifically looking for MeppenEverywhere there is something good and bad here and there but we feel very comfortable here!Kind regards from Oberhausen, we'll be back

I cannot agree with most of the previous speakers. Neither the carpet nor, after changing the room (the room we booked was supposed to be carpet-free), the floor without carpet were clean. Tile joints in the bathroom/shower were rotten and there was water under the toilet after use. The rubbers on the window frames of both rooms were rotting and there was a draft through the closed windows. 2 of the cupboards in the 4 room were broken, the shelves were missing, some of the holders were still in place. One of the cupboards was also missing a door. Even after three wet wipes, the bed frames were still so dirty that the next cloth was black again. There were orange-brownish stains on the toilet paper roll that could be wiped away with a damp cloth, very appetizing. The Wi-Fi that was said 7 months ago would be improved, well... sometimes it worked, then it didn't. The furniture and beds in the rooms do not correspond to the photos at all. They are neither as bright and inviting nor as modern as in the photos. The choice of wood colors reminds me of kitchen cabinets from the 80s and 90s. The shelves on the beds, which look as if there had once been light there, are quite useless without a light or a socket. Depending on the room, there are one or two ceiling lights that must be turned off at the entrance to the room. Which means the guest has to go back to bed in the dark without a cell phone. What does that have to do with modern? Things were going better 30 years ago in the Harz and Freiburg and Dresden. The staff present upon arrival seemed quite overwhelmed; it was not possible to issue a youth hostel ID card for ADAC customers. We'll wait for breakfast tomorrow, I don't have much hope anymore. It was also very loud in the evening because there was music playing downstairs in the hostel. If we had known that, that alone would have been a reason to book somewhere else, and the price-performance ratio isn't right here at all.Addendum: Breakfast was quite okay. Our complaints/criticism and the wish to leave early were responded to very courteously. We only paid for the night we spent there and at a reduced price.

We have been traveling with our orchestra (adults and youth groups) to our rehearsal weekend at the Meppen youth hostel for several years. Every weekend is an absolute highlight!The meals are rich and varied. There was always something for everyone! Intolerances were also taken into account.The outdoor area is unbeatable, especially for children and youth groups. You can spend wonderfully active hours there with outdoor games that you bring with you!The rooms were clean and functional. The larger and smaller conference and rehearsal rooms could be individually designed as required.The staff is helpful, friendly and approachable. The arrangements in advance and on site were extremely uncomplicated, and short-term changes were also taken into account.We can absolutely recommend this youth hostel!! We felt very comfortable! We look forward to next year!
