A special place with a great ambience, healthy, tasty food and loving hosts. There is no hotel atmosphere, but humanity with a personal touch.Sustainability, health and individuality are the motto here.If you want, you can take part in Pilates or yoga courses and book massages.Located in the middle of nature and a good starting point for varied hikes, this place is worth a trip for every nature lover. If you want to switch off and recharge and have no expectations of a run-of-the-mill standard program, this is the right place for you.

I stayed in the Rhöndistel for 3 nights in February. If you're looking for a boring hotel standard here, you'll quickly be disappointed and I think that's also the reason for some of the bad reviews. The rhönthistle is something for individualists. Here you can find peace and relaxation with massages, bright and clean rooms without TV, a healthy breakfast together with the operators and guests, yoga in the morning and in the afternoon as well as nice conversations. The place is also the starting point for many hikes around the Wasserkuppe and the surrounding area. So a clear recommendation for everyone who is looking for something special and of course especially for all yoga friends.

The guest house is in a good location for short hikes. The owners are super friendly and the rooms are clean and tidy. Now comes the big BUT, there were three of us staying there for business. One of my colleagues didn't have a bed in his room, just a mattress on the floor. You won't find the breakfast buffet you're used to on business trips here. Various dishes are offered for breakfast, but unfortunately they only appeal to people who are enthusiastic about whole vegan food. Anyone who prefers such a diet will definitely get their money's worth here.

Hotel is beautiful in nature, with great garden. Rooms are ok, breakfast is great. However, overall it is clearly aimed at yoga guests, you could offend hikers.Attention: You probably have to order dinner in advance.

we are speechless...In itself, the Rhöndistel could be a beautiful place for nature lovers and organic-oriented people, which is why we chose this accommodation for our Rhön hike. But before we even arrived, we were already puzzled. When we asked by phone whether it would be possible to check in at 8:30 p.m., the owner told us that she hadn't even mentioned us and was actually fully booked. However, you could still offer us the India room.We accepted it because we were pretty exhausted after a 20 km hike. Once there, our room turned out to be a massage room right next to the owners' private rooms with a 1.40 m wide, saggy futon bed. We accepted that too because we just needed a bed.The real highlight was the breakfast. After the two of us had eaten 4 slices of bread and 2 rolls, the owner told us how shocked she was that we had eaten so much bread. Because the bread basket on the table should have been enough for all guests (filled with 2 rolls, two types of bread, 6-7 pieces each and three slices of crispbread).Mind you: we had a 30km hike ahead of us and just wanted to enjoy breakfast in peace. After this announcement I lost my appetite for the whole day. Sorry, but for a total of €116 it was really a joke.I just hope that the owner reads this text and acknowledges that she had a significant negative impact on our hiking weekend through her actions and comments and understands the power her words can have.We will avoid this place in the future.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the guesthouse.Dogs are supposedly very welcome...When we were there and had our dog with us, carpets were removed from the room. There was no TV in the rooms. There were strange things in the bathroom such as: a kettle. Among other things, there was a cream as soap where the lid was already hard. There was also half a roll of toilet paper in this bathroom. We personally found the hosts' breakfast very strange. It took place in the dining room of the guest rooms. These were there too. No trace of a private atmosphere. We left the night before because we didn't feel comfortable in the village. The only positive thing is the location. One star for that.

Pseudo-community, the main thing is that the owners benefit, the woman is like her name..."shudder...", there is nothing outside for guests and residents to hang out in, except on the terrace and in the owners' garden...everything is very strange, even if the house is beautifully done. The entrances and exits to the house from access roads are also a number in themselves.

Very nice hosts, family atmosphere. Best muesli we've ever had for breakfast.
