The Landhaus Helmboldt is located in a very quiet and secluded area in the Steina district of Bad Sachsa - ideal for guests who are looking for peace and quiet and want to enjoy nature. The location offers many advantages, especially for hikers and dog owners. Unfortunately, our stay did not live up to expectations and the negative aspects clearly outweighed the negative aspects. What struck us as particularly unpleasant was the owner's reaction to requests or requests. Every wish, no matter how small, was commented on with an audible sigh, which gave the impression that as a guest you were more of a burden. These reactions spoiled the atmosphere and made us not really feel welcome.Based on the photos and the description of the hotel, we were prepared for a romantic wellness weekend and were disappointed. Ms. Helmboldt currently runs the country house alone, supported only by two temporary staff who help with breakfast and dinner. Unfortunately, this does not prevent visible problems. We couldn't find the four-star category in its current state: There is no chef, no caretaker and no trained hotel staff, which is particularly noticeable in the service.Another drawback was the unavailable wellness facilities. Although these applications are supposedly offered, when we asked, we were repeatedly given various excuses as to why they were not currently available. This was very disappointing as we had been looking forward to a wellness break.Although the rooms are clean, there is a noticeable lack of cleaning in the common areas such as hallways and the restaurant, which is probably due to the lack of staff. The food was good and inexpensive, but we didn't feel well looked after if we had special dietary needs (such as intolerances). There was hardly any flexibility or consideration. However, if you are more interested in excursions and have a lot of understanding and humor, you can definitely enjoy your stay in the country house. However, for us, who were looking for relaxation and wellness, it was a disappointment. In summary, the Landhaus Helmboldt is a quiet, well-located house for hikers and those seeking peace and quiet, but it lacks the basic services that you would expect from a four-star hotel. Unfortunately, due to these shortcomings, we cannot make any recommendations.

The hotel “Landhaus Helmboldt” has a secluded and therefore extremely quiet location in the Steina district of Bad Sachsa. If you are looking for total peace and quiet, are traveling with a dog and hiking is your priority, this is the place for you (Pro). - But the cons outweigh the negatives. Because the slightly older owner, Ms. Helmboldt, currently runs the country house alone - only two temporary staff serve at breakfast and dinner - visible problems are inevitable. Without a cook, without a caretaker, without trained hotel staff, you will search in vain for the FOUR STARS.

This is. The small hotel garni, hidden away in the WALD, is run solely by the owner, Barbara Helmboldt. For overnight stays, solid Voglauer furniture from Austria is available in double rooms and suites, some of which are over 100 square meters in size. Large rooms on the ground floor, a pine wood parlor, a breakfast room with a large buffet and the former café invite you to visit. Seating on the south terrace with a view of the large park. There is a parking space in the forest for each hotel room. The special service for wellness, whirlpool, sauna, Irish-Roman steam bath and massages complete the picture for this jewel Landhaus Helmboldt in Steina in the southern Harz.

So I don't know where this hotel got 4 stars or how old the stars are. It was very musty in the room as in the rest of the hotel, and the room wasn't the cleanest either.Breakfast isn't really of any use, it's probably only refilled upon request. The room was very cold at night. We wanted to stay there for 3 nights but after the first night and breakfast we left because it just wasn't possible anymore, you couldn't even put a nice spin on it.The owner didn't even want to look at it and just wanted to discuss the fact that it was a country house.I just think that the owner is overwhelmed with everything.Luckily we got another hotel nearby and our short vacation was saved. The location is the only thing that is very good.

We were guests of Mrs. Helmboldt in her country hotel over the Pentecost weekend. The moment you get out of the car and walk towards the hotel, you feel like you've slowed down. A beautiful complex, a great park, everything is a bit enchanted, complete peace, you can hear the birds and the stream, nothing else. The hotel is furnished with great attention to detail, you can discover little sweet treats everywhere. We arrived late in the evening and Mrs. Helmboldt turned the stove on again just for us so that we didn't have to go to bed hungry. You can feel that Ms. Helmboldt puts her heart and soul into everything she does. She runs the entire complex almost alone and goes out of her way to do everything for her guests. We spent three wonderful days there, with a lovely breakfast every morning and a delicious three-course menu in the evening. We were thrilled every time. We are grateful to have had a nice break there and hope that we will be able to enjoy spending time there again at some point.

What a wonderful place. The word “idyllic” must have originated here. This beautiful old country house gave us a very nice long weekend at the beginning of October. On the first day we were welcomed with a very tasty meal that was super fresh and rich. There were fried fish fillets and homemade beef roulades. Plus a lot of delicious side dishes and salads. The next morning the breakfast buffet was no different. There was plenty of everything and it was delicious. The service was extremely friendly, attentive and helpful. This created a comfortable atmosphere for us.The rooms are cozy, everything is covered in warm wood, the carpets and sofa sets looked very new, the beds didn't creak or sag, you have a nice view of the front and/or back garden and there was everything you need. Even if there was something to complain about, you could always talk to the staff. We also got to know the owner of this country house, who was extremely personable and friendly. Unfortunately, however, one also notices the great shortage of personnel in Germany. Despite her advanced age, the owner still has to do almost everything herself. Unfortunately, Corona didn’t stop here either. She is also responsible for cooking and preparing breakfast. You can tell straight away that she is a trained cook and hotel manager. I have rarely experienced so much passion in people. Great respect for this woman. The area around the country house is just right for hikers and people who long to slow down. You don't hear anything there except the slight rushing of the stream. The air quality is first class and you can escape the stress of everyday life as soon as you get out of the car.We are very excited and it is definitely not the last time we will be there.

A very charming house, the food was prepared by Mrs. Helmboldt herself, which was always delicious and plentiful. I can recommend the country house with a clear conscience.
