I’m a student, and on the mass student move out day (30th June) I booked the ibis budget as it was cheapest hotel around. ||First impression of the room was grim. …

I drove from London and booked a double room for £65. I arrived at midnight having a conference the next day. I can honestly say that it was the worst stay every in all my years. …

Very very very basicNo jug kettle in the room. Very tight spaces. Although reasonably clean. If you are driving will have to pay £3 per day for the parking. Free WiFiStaff is generally friendly but some of them can be very nasty. So be careful.Would rather pay a bit extra to get better service

It's basic, but it's clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and welcoming - and it doesn't cost very much.OK, so the wardrobe is a post protruding from the wall equipped with four coat hangers and there's no tea/coffee making facilities. There's no drawers, so clothes storage is compromised. However, it's on-suite and the shower is fine. The main plus point is that it costs the same as the small fleapit hotels that get horrible reviews for being dirty and having rude staff, but it is clean, comfortable and friendly.

Really nice staff working here. Very welcoming. There is an extra charge for parking that you don't find out the amount of until you arrive. Would be handy if that was on the website when you are budgeting. Rooms are fine and clean. My heater was working that efficiently but staff did try there best to sort it out when I raised the issue. Would happily stay here again.

Okay for a short stay.Hard to access as it is off a side road of a six lane highway. Staff were more than helpful but rooms were very noisy. Traffic noise and a loud generator with thin windows didn't make for the most peaceful nights sleep. The staff were more than helpful when we asked for extra pillows and towels, and provided us with a fan as the air conditioning in the room was not working. Food and products direct from the hotel are massively expensive, but there's a tesco and Aldi right across that sells anything you may have forgotten for half the price. There are microwave facilities and a small seating area in the lobby so it's perfectly possible to heat up a meal and sit and eat. TV was good in the room, nice lighting and a good shower. We didn't have a car but parking was ample although you had to pay a small fee.Overall it was pleasant enough for a one night stay. Staff were great but the quality of the hotel was not as high as other Ibis Budgets, mainly the central Birmingham and London ones

The rooms are small and basic and there is no kettle or hairdryer. We stayed two nights and had to change rooms because of problems with the air conditioning making the first room very damp. The staff were very helpful and did their best to sort the issues out. The shower is very good but it would be good to have a bath mat provided as you step out of it straight into the room.

Ended up having to stay here for 3 weeks because it was the cheapest place near my new job to stay temporarily before I found a house to rent. I'm an awkward customer because I brought my dog with me, making my options very slim. Ibis charged £5 per night and I found that to be the cheapest about and very reasonable given I don't believe any hotel is under any obligation to allow animals and have to deal with the potential problems of accommodating them. The rooms were small but had everything you'd expect for what you pay. The real value was in the service - Fridges full off little bits of everything and snacks available to buy without having to go anywhere, and breakfast provided to-go. Connor was extremely friendly and greeted us every time we came and went! We had problems with the room key a few times but they were resolved immediately. Also I don't complain about noise but we ended up having to move rooms because of a constant banging - I know the type you'll find at budget hotels and I think it's unfair to complain at staff for things that are outside of their control.Overall, for the price we paid and service we received including permittance of a dog we are happy. Thanks!

Pros - Hotel is within walking distance to city centre. Didn't sample the food but seems readily available. Located near a petrol station. Sockets for USB cables in the room. A single soap bar provided - no other amenities. Free internet connection which is easy to connect to. Black out blinds. Large Tesco across the road.Cons - Floor was sticky and dirty. Beds weren't made properly. One toilet roll provided during 3 night stay. No kettle provided. Shower is in your room with a frosted panel so limited privacy. Toilet has no vent and flush doesn't work properly. Room is very unclean and feels more like a hostel as opposed to a hotel. Not worth the £36 paid in my opinion. Parking fees apply although you are not informed until you get there - £3 a day charge. No wardrobes or storage space, just a few hangers over the bed. No phone in the room. Upon arrival, room smelt of cigarette smoke.

I was given the first room and it had not been housekeeped from the previous user. The receptionist quickly rectified this and got me another. The room was satisfactory. Cleanliness could be better with stains on the walls and the remote control having excess debris on it. Linen was clean. Shower had hot water on demand. TV worked fine. For what I paid for it given the current pandemic, it was good value.Parking normally £3 but free at this time due to COVID-19.Would stay again as cheap and cheerful.
