I have never in my life stayed at a worse place than this one. And I have seen many bad places.Their advertising is nothing but lies. I called one of the employees out about it and he literally denied every issue I listed and implied I am a liar and that there is nothing wrong with the place and nothing was lied about. Well I have images to prove at least what I can prove. Many people don't speak out, but they should. This places should be closed down, and I was told by the other hostel where I escaped to from this dump, that they also violate regulations by law.So let's start:-Outside it was around 10C or less over night and the rooms were not heated! Not on any day. Me and the woman in the bed next to me we slept in our winter coats and we were still cold.- The place looks run down, I was joking that it looks like a homeless shelter/jail/military camp but I am sure all those are at least heated and in a better condition- The entire place smells like a porter potty, and I am not exaggerating, it's absolutely disgusting- The place is dirty and not taken care of- No towels. They told me to go to Morrisons and buy one. (when I confronted the employee, he said that's not true I should have asked for it. I did. And I was told to buy one.)- No one at the front desk, at any time.- You have to check in through the off license store next door, no employees in the "hostel"- I was gone for a day but didn't check out and they gave my bed away.- The mattresses are more like spring boxes, you feel every spring and they might be from 1970.- The bedding looked like crap, who knows if they even wash them- The whole place is a dump.- The area Byker, is the worst are in the greater Newcastle area- no hot water in the sinks- rude staff (from across the shop)I was in a rush when booking and put my faith in Hostelworld.com, I should have seen the reviews before hand. I hope you do. Avoid this place at any cost. I went to another hostel which was cheaper and looked like a luxury hotel compared to this one.PS the mirror picture, look at the mirror how dirty it is.

the rooms are a little cramped. We only filled up 1/3 of the beds but it still felt a little crowded. The worst thing was the bed they gave me, the top cover, was oily. I would recommend bringing a sleeping bag.Other than that it was affordable which is what matters most to me. The staff were friendly and willing to help. They were also doing renovations on some of the bathrooms so I can tell they are trying to make improvements.

Unable to get into the hostel, coach was delayed and no-one answered the phones or intercom. Left to walk the streets of Newcastle . Didn't think this would be allowed to be advertised with so much false information on the page- check-in isn't 24 over the weekend and the reception isn't open 24hrs either

Avoid at all costs. There is no cleaning service at all. They purposely falsely advertised this place (right in the Newcastle University) in Agoda so that people would book it. And the review from Agoda was really nice. Please don't trust their photos, it is literally false advertising. There's no actual phone number for you to inquire about this place. Really man, how could someone ask about your whereabouts when you pin the wrong place in Agoda in the first place.

You get what you pay for :) Stayed here before the great north run. The room was ok for one night, but next time I'd probably go for something better.. There was no one at the reception, other guests let me in after knocking and trying to call the phone # on the app a couple of times. The room and the bed was generally clean, the shower / toilet is borderline. I left really early so I saw no people at the reception when leaving either. I guess it was ok for one night, but if you can afford something better, then go for it. If not, then just don't expect anything..

You check in at the shop below and are given the code to the front door. We stayed in room 6 at the top of the stairs with a skylight window. Our room was clean enough. The walls did have some holes in them that were patched up. …

The concierge took our bags upon arrival with a grin on his face- we new we were in for the time of our lives. The area is comparable with Mayfair in London- I would recommend ‘The high Main’ across the street, the traditional breakfast was to die for😩complementary chocolate and biscuits were delicious and the spa is a must.Overall it was the best night of my life and I will be back

Would give the manager an 15/10, was so lovely and had some great recommendations for my trip that I was going on!!! I paid £7/£8 as they’re recovering from covid which is about right but wouldn’t pay anything more! It’s a hostel bed for a few nights so that price was okay.(No covid precautions so recommend giving it a careful thought if ur worried about that before booking)No one was ever at the reception desk but was offered a number if I needed anything as there’s people that would help me from downstairs or across the road so not much of a bother. The hostel itself... it was secure in the fact it had a number password lock on the front door and a few small lockers in the hallway and obviously lock on loo doors but that was it. It was said they had gotten rid of all the trouble makers that have been placed in due to covid when I arrived. Still had some questionable characters living semi-long term (awaiting documents, on their way somewhere else or other personal reasons) this included a couple of drunks which is always a little worrying (especially when I’m getting a life talk at 9am when I’m trying to leave) but luckily I got on with the people in my dorm as they were nice. The first night the female toilet had no toilet roll, smelt of sewage and had water (I hope) along the floor edge by the pipe which wasn’t there the next afternoon which was good but still smelt a bit. The shower I just avoided as it didn’t look the nicest to say the least. The top room had little ventilation so often smelt and was quite stuffy. The duvet had to be quite old as it was all thin and bobbly and definitely needed renewing. The hostel itself definitely has potential and I’m sure has had better days before my arrival, I think the price I paid is reasonable for what the hostel was, a bed for a few nights.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the shower facilities are up to standard (although there is no privacy screen) along with breakfast. Overall for the price, money very well spent.
