We had a lovely stay. The room was clean and big, and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, the shower in the bathroom was a bit of a letdown. The handheld shower was unusable as the hose just came off the shower head as soon as the water was turned on. Due to problems with my ears, I can't use the rainshower, so I was having problems getting a proper shower. I was not impressed. We enjoyed being able to use the gym, as we like to exercise before breakfast. The food was lovely and affordable and served quite quickly. The location is really lovely. Though it's close to the town centre it's very quiet and it's lovely green around it.

I have been staying at this hotel regularly for 20years. It is nowhere near as good as it used to be. They removed fridges and telephones from the rooms long ago. Quality of service and staff is very hit 'n miss - some good, some not so good, which is why the poor reviews on this page are accurate - I have experienced most of the same issues that others have complained about, especially the clearly untrained and disinterested attitude of some of the reception, gym and bar staff. The bar is good if you want to watch sport. We checked in to our room last night. Only one bath towel and one hand towel. After reporting it we were told "oh get some from the cleaners when they come around"..... a decent hotel would have delivered towels immediately. I stay here because it's convenient but it's never a complete pleasure and certainly not value for money compared to other hotels.

wish i had read the recent reviews properly, instead there was a few with higher ratings which are probably fake . Really bad customer service, the lack of customer satisfaction is very saddening. In the world we live in today, we want to have a great experience for the price we pay as living costs are high yet and less money to spend to enjoy life, yet the staff and management are like robots!repeating the same script without any personality.

A fantastic hotel. The staff are very friendly & helpful. The swimming pool was great. We went ,as a couple for our Anniversary & we entered our room to a balloon attached to an ice bucket containing 2 small bottles of cava. A fantastic touch. Well worth a visit again.

Great stay from start to finish all staff members were amazing and the room was much larger than expected with the most comfortable of beds. Breakfast was great can’t wait to go back. Also you must try the pool and gym so relaxing and staff really knowledgeable and kept everywhere really clean.

10 years ago it may very well have been a 4-star hotel but it needs a complete upgrade. The rooms feel tired and dated, housekeeping poor (I think putting the pillows back on the bed was the only thing they did) with towels randomly removed and not replaced, toilet seat left up after cleaning (hopefully!) and not actually cleaned every day (although they did come into the room every day). The food in the bar was basic and not very well prepared (a burger was definitely left on the griddle too long!) and service... well... the kids seemed more interested in catching up on the weekend's shenanigans than service. Go to the Greene King across the road for food instead! Breakfast was ok, but not all that much choice, especially in terms of breads. The scrambled eggs (the only eggs on the buffet) rubbery and the bacon soggy. Self-check-in a cute gimmick, but it doesn't work so help is on hand! (And, to be fair, the 'reception' staff are the best bit about the place.)There is a Starbucks on the premises and a fully equipped gym, pool, sauna and steam room free of charge (leave your room key as deposit for a padlock for the lockers). This bit earns the hotel its 4 stars. There is parking.

A hotel built for relaxation. When we walked in, a warm welcome was given by reception, who were very willing to answer questions. Our room was a nice size with a nice firm bed and good thick bed linen. The bathroom was also a nice size with a bath and shower. Unfortunately, the reason for 4 stars is lack of shelf space (actually 0 shelfs for clothing) with small hanging space, which we coped with for 2 nights. Also, an issue with the air-conditioning was that it would only supply cold air and not hot, which was promptly resolved with a floor heater. It would be good to add a safe for piece of mind. The gym and swimming pool are both bigger than normal for a hotel, and the pool is heated to a nice temperature. There are lockers that require a padlock that the gym reception can provide if you do not pack one.Interior is nicely decorated with a calming atmosphere and quirky features, making a change to the usual sterile hotel furniture. The bar is fantastic in how it has been designed with many big screens for major events. We only had breakfast which here which has plenty of choice and the quality of food used is better than many other hotels. There is plenty of parking but chargeable unless you arrive after 5pm on Friday and leave before 3pm on Sunday. We are planning to possibly visit the area again and will not hesitate to stay here again.
