Ella, Valentine, Agustin and Ryan were so lovely and kind to me. Truly made my stay so enjoyable. The people were so so kind and really cared for me when i wasn't feeling the best. They did everything they could to make me feel comfortable. Hostel itself was simple, a good place to stay for a night or a few.I was in a mixed room as the only female with 5 men so I recommend to other female travelers to book the all female room!!Simple stay, great price and did the job. Thank you Phoenix!

Awesome place! I make new friendships. Building is old but it was clean for me, showers and toilets every floor. Bed was comfortable. Bar with £5 pint and breakfast for £3 I enjoy. And staff top job everyone was so nice. Great location as well.

I recently stayed at this hostel in London, and it was by far one of the worst accommodations I have ever experienced. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the place was poorly managed and maintained. First and foremost, the hostel was infested with bed bugs. I woke up each morning with numerous bites, which made my stay incredibly uncomfortable. The hygiene standards were abysmal, with no apparent effort made to address this serious issue. The reception was equally disappointing. There was no sense of hospitality or welcoming atmosphere. The room was a complete mess. It was incredibly small and congested, housing 19 beds crammed into a tiny space. There was hardly any room to move, and personal space was non-existent. The condition of the room made it difficult to relax or get a good night's sleep. The state of the toilets and washrooms was appalling. There was only one washroom on the ground floor, which was insufficient for the number of guests. On the second floor, some washrooms were missing pipes, rendering them unusable. The lack of adequate facilities was a significant inconvenience. Moreover, there were not enough socket points in the rooms, making it difficult to charge devices. This was particularly frustrating, as it is a basic expectation for any modern accommodation. The hostel did not have a kitchen or even a kettle for preparing drinking water. This lack of basic amenities was disappointing, especially for travelers on a budget who might want to prepare their own meals or beverages. While the accommodation was cheap, the low cost did not justify the poor conditions. This hostel was truly the worst of the worst. If you want to experience a nightmare stay, then by all means, book a room here. Otherwise, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a place to stay in London.

The location is excellent, safety is 10/10, no one bothers you and you get great value for your money in one of the most expensive cities in the world. Yes, it could definitely do with investment to upgrade but for the price , you cannot complain. Beds are comfortable, sheets, clean, breakfast is 3 quid, towel 2quid. Perfect place to chill in the bar downstairs and sleep. I stay most weekends I’m in London & had only positive experiences. Tyrone is very helpful and friendly in reception. Great base whilst in central London !

- The location and the friendliness of the staff were the best things about the property and the stay.- Didn't have to pay to rent the towels.- The breakfast was simple, but £3 was worth it. It was bumming having to ask for everything at the bar when the staff is reduced and busy.- The halls were stinky. Such a strong sweat smell that was way too unpleasant.- There were hairs and stains all around our room.- The shower on the second floor - near our room - was not working.- Rooms, bathrooms and showers are all very dirty.

I enjoyed my stay at the Phoenix Hostal. Yes the rooms were FULL. I stayed in a mixed dorm -yup many bunks. Price reflects this. Guests were respectful -sometimes turning light on when others were sleeping. I suggest a night light in the room -if possible -might help. I stayed at the beginning of the week. The vibe in the bar was friendly and laid back. The location was perfect - a few blocks to the ‘tube’. I experienced all the staff as friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Valentine. Valentine went out of his way to make me comfortable -it was because of his helpfulness I stayed two extra nights. . I don’t eat breakfast -it looked like a pretty standard cold breakfast. I will stay again when in the area.

It’s cheap and you get what you pay for. It’s a tired old building without the charm. The shared washing facilities need attention. The toilets are very narrow and the washbasins barely big enough for your hands. The shower door was screwed shut with no alternative or explanation. Thankfully was only there for one night but this was not pleasant, particularly as you’re sharing rooms with strangers in a bed that isn’t your own. It’s definitely budget but a place to wash feels like a very basic requirement.

****Dirty Hostel with Fleas - Don’t Stay Here****I had a terrible experience at this hostel in London. The place was *dirty*, and I found fleas and mites in the room. Unfortunately, I even brought the *fleas* back home with me. The rooms are too *small* and don't have enough lockers and they are too small. The only good thing was the morning receptionist, who was nice and tried to help. But that doesn't make up for the awful conditions. I do not recommend staying here.--Don’t rent a room at this hostel--

Ryan was lovely on check in and check out very friendly and approachable!Rooms are standard size good location not far from underground stations.Only drawback would be the size of the bathroom and showers but it's an old building so hardly anything they can do about it.

Beware. You will get better accommodation in some prisons in El Salvador.Don't come here, don't come her, don't come here!!!!(This is a response to the other posts mentioning fleas. FYI those are not flea bites , but bed bugs bites, and you have probably already brought them with you to you place, parent's ..etc. they are great hitchhikers)
