Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I arrived with high hopes and left feeling like a million dollars. The owner even allowed me to watch my favourite team on the TV (Kilmarnock). …

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS HOTEL GENUINELY!!||Where to begin. You go in and the first thing they demand off you is a £50 deposit in cash just so you can stay. …

Where to begin, I don't think that there was a single good thing about our stay at this dive. Over the course of the first day/night the room smelt very strongly of urine, to which we had no clue where this was coming from. Upon arrival, we were asked for a £50 deposit, to which we paid by card as they said that this was okay. It took over 2 weeks and daily phone calls to finally get it refunded back. I called up yesterday to ask AGAIN about the refund and they spoke very rudely to me, saying 'Oh my god I have already told you yesterday that it will be refunded' and just overall being disrespectful. I would NOT recommend staying here, the staff is extremely rude and the sheets were dirty, the room smelled, overall so unpleasant.

We Have mixed feelings on this hotel...The good:- Rooms are for the most part clean- It's in a good location nearby the trams and a few decent chippies- beds were quite comfy- free WiFi (not awful)- it's pretty cheap. The bad:The main issue we had is that so many people complained on issues with the deposit (which is £50 per room, so £100 for us) that we were scared to disturb anything or use the shower in case it was used against us as a reason to keep the deposit as you sign a big sheet when you go in that explains charges for blocking the toilet and any small breakages. There was definitely an instance of them trying to pull a fast one where the guy on the counter accused us of stealing a towel, but this was quickly solved over a few strong words and a "double check". The floorboards were also quite creaky and there were a lot of small imperfections in the room, but nothing that affects the stay in any real way if you're using the hotel as somewhere to sleep and keep your stuff. We did get our full deposit back in the end.Another small issue is that the "by the sea" in the name is a bit misleading , as it's actually up a side street. But again nothing major, actually kind of better for the noise. The best suggestion I can give is that if you're going to stay here is take pictures and videos of the absolutely everything in the room , count the towels and make sure to show any damage on mugs etc when you enter and when you leave , including under the beds as some of them have broken slats. Make sure to get time and dates in the videos. That way you can prove you didn't damage or steal anything.

Booked 6 rooms.....£300 deposit. £50 each room (£20 each more than a nights stay). Good points....Rooms were tidy...thats it. Bedding looked clean enough but pillows were stained and yekkow. Couldn't open blind as no tilt wand at side. Couldn't close window as would need to stand on the bed. Impossible for me. Stains on carpet, old tatty, chipped furniture. Lino in bathroom ripped, shower base cracked, toothpaste still over the sink. Reception guy more interested in getting my daughters number than checking us in. Advertised a delicious breakfast but doesn't do breakfast !!!!!@So bad half of us left and did not stay. Rest off party had no option but stay.
