Our 4th visit to The Queen over a period of about 10 years. It was lovely to see the new internal decor both in the public areas and the room we stayed in on the 1st floor of the main hotel. …

This Hotel has had considerableInvestment since our last stay. It has been beautifully done. Service is excellent. Rowena and her team looked after us at breakfast. They made us welcome and looked after us so well, including our 18 month old grandson, making sure we had a table to one side and high chair ready. Their service was attentive and we couldn’t have asked for better. Excellent! Thank you.Although dinner was pricier than last time we stayed it was excellent quality. The restaurant and bar are very stylish now.Rooms have been well decorated and were well serviced too.Would recommend a stay here as easy to access the town centre and race course and other local facilities.

I arrived at the hotel, flustered after a difficult train journey. Ben on reception could not have been more helpful. As a bonus, I was lucky enough to be upgraded.  …

Had 2 nice nights here. Roma’s are small as expected but very comfortable. Location was great. Parking was fine but not connected to the hotel so a bit inconvenient but worked fine. Food was good and the rooms were generally quiet.

Had booked twin bedded room and found when going to the room at 3pm, two single beds were together making a double bed with bedding for double bed.Went back to reception and they said someone would come and make beds up as two singles. …

The recent money spent on the refurbishment was well worth it! The bedrooms were modern and very comfortable and the public rooms were also very spacious and relaxing. The meals were excellent and varied, with good portions!  …

Really great hotel, the rooms were huge, the location amazing. We were here for a convention and the bar staff just weren’t capable of serving people which was frustrating. It took 20 minutes to get served when there were only 4 people in the queue, and food often took upwards of an hour to arrive, didn’t arrive at all, or arrived cold. The front desk staff were amazing, the breakfast bar staff were amazing, but the bar was really poorly run. They apparently had their best weekend for sales at the bar ever while we were there, just think how much they would have made if they’d had enough staff on? If you had an allergy or intolerance you had to wait for one particular member of staff to take your order, if you wanted coffee, only one person was trained to make it, bar staff were milling about doing nothing while the queue grew and grew, a simple system where someone took orders and another poured drinks would have helped.

The hotel is in a great location with a convenient car park (can be booked and paid online) at the back. Since I was there for a conference, that is so helpful. …

Perfect stay in this highly dignified historic hotel. The staff team were the greatest delight and the friendly efficient interactions greatly enhanced the feeling of well being. Just a few strides from the station and a ten minute walk from the social heart of the beautiful city made my stay perfect, especially after being fuelled by the amazing breakfast. Can't wait to go back someday.
