We were here on a Monday-Friday with Caledonia Travel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms needed a good clean,( and a kick of paint would not go amiss,) especially the carpets. Which were badly stained.Beds were clean and comfortable.Do not pay the extra £40 for the sea view. Not worth it. Trees and big containers in the way.We asked for a room near a lift. We got that very pleased 😀

This hotel was pleasant to stay at but did have a few issues. We were met by a manager on arrival explaining where to go and give keys. The lift to rooms only took 4 people at a time which caused long queues as you can imagine when 2 coaches of people arrived at the same time. We were put in room 222 waited in queue for lift got to second floor and were totally unable to find our room, I had to return to reception and ask the manager where our room was. He was helpful and physically took us to the room which was well off the second floor down 1 flight of stairs and up another with cases, this room was not the best option for someone with mobility problems like myself. I'm sure if I asked it may have been possible to be moved but left it as it was only for a few days. I feel for future reference checks should be made on customer's problems before been allocated this room. Also many elderly people tend to book on these tours and I feel on leaving we were left to our own devices with cases etc. There were quite a few customer's with mobility walkers and had get down 2 or three steps out of the building with walkers and luggage I would have thought maybe 2 members of staff could be at departure times to help such people to avoid possible accidents maybe just taking cases over the road to the coach which can only pull in on the other side of the road. One such person had a fall in the middle of the road between the hotel and the coach, fortunately she only slightly twisted her ankle and was helped to the coach. Apart from these issues we had a great break food was good, staff serving meals were polite and helpful. Entertainment was quite good and the 4 free drinks each night was a bonus. Torquay itself is a beautiful place for a holiday and as a whole our stay at the Torbay was a good experience and would go again. Just feel I had to mention the few issues

Hotel is clean, well laid out and all staff very helpful and polite. No bedrooms on ground floor, location of disabled room not ideal and bathroom very small, it was new and clean. The view nice. Good location. Food adequate.

The majority of the people who were staying here were elderly, disabled and had difficulty getting about. There were a lot of guests (3 coaches), all arriving at the same time...and there was one, very slow lift. …

STAY AWAY…..Don’t go here. You can find better.I came for breakfast the two past days in a row and the staff had no issues allowing me to pay and walk in. The food was good, the restaurant crappy, old, out of date and smelled like mould.Today, Sep 10 2024 @ 0730am I came back for breakfast.Instead of a mouldy smell, I encountered an ignorant greasy smelly French man at the counter said I wasn’t allowed to pay for breakfast or even patronage the restaurant.I wish this person had a name tag so I can embarrass him publicly. So I’ll just give the hotel a poor review.Based on this douche at the counter, I’d never stay here, especially when you’re not valued as a guest of the hotel regardless of what you come in for.I took my business to Premier Inn and was welcomed with open arms, with a smile and made to feel welcome….because of this amazing customer service at Premier I booked a hotel room for five nights….Torbay Hotel’s loss. All you have to do is treat someone with respect….Honestly I don’t know why people stay at the Torquay, probably just locals or traveller’s that don’t know any better.
