Beautiful tranquil place. Very relaxing and so comfortable. The treat at the bottom of the garden is the Woody Bay Steam Train Station. What a lovely place to visit minutes from your room. Wow! The place was easy to find and close to Lynmouth and Lynton. Daisy is so friendly and welcoming. Perfect

A wonderful place to stay and chill.....deep in the North Devon countryside, we were made to feel very much at home by Daisy and family. We were looked after with a personal touch and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend to all and sundry......and urge people to stay there if visiting this lovely area

This was the second time I have stayed here (16-19 Dec.), and it was just as warm, friendly and welcoming as before. There is a great team here. The rooms are warm and clean, and I really did enjoy a good night’s sleep throughout my stay. The team worked very hard to ensure my stay was perfect. Things have been improved, more meal options, and now a superb Sunday roast/lunch is provided. It represents excellent value for money. It takes time to sort out little niggles like dated wallpaper, older furniture and the surroundings. Things have clearly been done and the team are aware of what still needs to be done.All-in-all I truly like this hotel, edge of Dartmoor, ideal for peace and quiet, hiking/rambling, and not far from Plymouth.

2024 update - just as wonderful this year too 🙂2023:3 night stay in B&B room. Clean, comfortable, peaceful, welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and my room had everything I needed and more. Also has a top floor apartment and a dog-friendly self catering annex.Lovely grounds for a wander, read a book or bird watching. Beautiful views towards Heddon Valley, watching the low cloud roll in from the Atlantic then roll back out.Cracking breakfast to fuel a day of walking. Chatting to other guests, they had all stayed before and keep returning.Direct access to the wonderful Woody Bay Station on the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway, currently only 1 mile long but a lovely place with a great vibe - and what a view!Bus stops outside if you need or want to leave the car at the hotel, also not far from Lynton or Lynmouth for a taxi.Thank you to Desi for a wonderful stay.

We booked Moorlands after looking for a good central location to do three of the OS top 100 walks. All three walks were within half an hour drive. ||What an excellent choice.  …

Booked to take my Mum and Dad, my Mum is 87 and has mobility issues and they couldn’t have been more helpful, from the initial booking and then throughout our stay. …

Booked a short break as wanted to visit relatives in the area and this was nearby. |The rooms were comfortable and clean, with a well stocked tea/coffee tray and the jar of locally made strawberry jam was a lovely touch. …

Have just returned from a 4 night break at Moorlands and cannot rate both the house and the owners highly enough. The room was comfortable and the jar of complimentary strawberry jam was a lovely touch. Tea/coffee tray was well stocked everyday and the "guests" fridge downstairs meant you could buy and keep snacks and drinks to hand. The breakfasts were amazing with a lovely choice of both cooked dishes, cereal, pastries etc.Mark and Desi treated everyone as their friends and the lounge/study was a lovely place to while away the evenings. The garden was a lovely space to walk around, with fantastic views over the valley and the narrow gauge railway at the bottom of the garden was an added bonus. One word of warning, if you rely on your mobile phone, there is pretty much no signal unless you walk up the drive to the road, but to be honest, it was a nice break away from them and the WiFi was more than adequate. Will be going back again

An excellent location for touring the local area. Lovely house and gardens which are kept immaculate. Easy parking, good WiFi, lovely breakfasts and so quiet and peaceful. The hosts are so welcoming and friendly. Nothing is too much of a problem. We had a lovely stay here and would not hesitate to return. We used it as a base to do some casual walks. Lynton is only a few minutes away and many other lovely locations are within 30 minutes.
