Don't usually write reviews but felt I had to do this as had such a great experience staying here.Working away from home is a pain at the best of times but staying here made it bearable. The place is absolutely immaculate. Lovely room which is immaculate. I had fresh towels daily ,if not every second day and the room was tidied up for me. You're staying up above the bar which I didn't find a problem at all and it was never too noisy. The staff and owners are friendly and very helpful if you have any problems. I had an issue with the TV on the first night and Graham fixed it for me straight away. Have the breakfast in the morning as its one of the best I've ever had and LeeAnne makes the best fried eggs I've ever tasted. All in all a great experience staying here and hopefully I'll be back soon. Jock

Amazing hotel. I am a contractor. I'm a cleaner. Booked at 11am for that day. Amazing phone staff. Very helpful and accommodating. Really friendly people on arrival. Felt like home from home. The room was huge, clean, linen was fresh and crisp and towels on the bed. Absolutely bargain for the price and helped me last minite. Will stay again! Really good find! Can't wait to try the food. Heard good things. Just felt really welcome as soon as I got here. Thank you guys.

Went in for lunch and a drink with some regulars whilst visiting the area. Very friendly staff, lovely food, small but nice range of non-alcohol. Nice hour or so spent there.

We stayed at The Phoenix on a weeknight on route to Cornwall. The room was spacious and well appointed. Keep in mind the building is very old - so sure there are some cracks and stains on the walls and single pane windows - but this is easily overlooked thanks to the fluffy white bedding, strong wifi, big TV, huge ensuite bathroom and extremely reasonable pricing. The staff at the Phoenix are absolutely wonderful and welcoming!

When we arrived a very helpful lady immediately informed us of the two disco nights. The room was clean and functional, the service was great, the breakfast was delicious and the location was ideal for our needs. We would definitely stay again. It is obvious they are an exceptionally hard working people trying to do their best; I will always support this. The disco music became like white noise and didn't ruin a wonderful weekend. Thank you to all the staff.

Great breakfast although I prefer sausages to be crispy rather than soft skinned. Staff need to smile more and communicate a little better rather than just dropping plates and going. Overall not a bad experience and would probably go back again some time
