With friends visiting and seeking a Cream Tea I booked the Old Forge In Totnes, the reviews looked good and being a sunny.day, the garden looked perfect. What can I say, all of the above is true and some - the garden is absolutely beautiful, it was peaceful and just the prefect spot. Julie was the perfect host and provided an amazing cream tea - I will definitely head back when we have friends visiting and we're in Totnes.

This bed and breakfast was perfection. Julie, the owner, could not have been friendlier or more welcoming. The rooms were sparking clean and there were lovely additions like fresh flowers in a tiny vase by the windowsill and nice binder chock full of useful information about Totnes. The breakfast was hearty and delicious every single morning. The garden out back is tranquil and well maintained. To top it off the location is excellent. Just a few minutes walking distance from the bridge and many other fabulous local restaurants and cafes. Highly recommend!

We stayed at The Old Forge for a long weekend, a lovely warm welcome, room spotlessly clean and comfy, lovely to have seating outside to enjoy the sun in a gorgeous enclosed garden, breakfast was really lovely, quality ingredients, would definitely recommend for a place to stay in lovely Totnes, just a few minutes walk from the town.

We loved the Old Forge! Sure there are some aspects that could make a difference (which is why I can’t give it 5 stars), the beds are not well sized (but to be honest we are used to an Australian ’king’) and because the room was advertised …

An oasis of calm and tranquility close to the centre of bustling Totnes.Recommended by a local friend, Julie and the Old Forge lived up to their billing. We had a delightful authentic Devon cream tea served in the garden.Sat in sun in the orchard amongst heritage apple trees already laden with ripe fruit, was a gorgeous experience.Fresh cut flowers on the table and really beautiful antique tea pots, crockery and cutlery complimented the warm fresh currant scones .Lovely place and nice vibe from the attentive Julie. Thanks so much. We will be back!

This is an absolute gem of a place. Cottage feel. It's more of a hotel than a B&B but almost a mix of the two and it really works. There are different rooms to suit your needs, all very neat and clean. The Cottage Suite is a great little ground floor space with a bit of a lounge diner, bathroom & two bedrooms. If you had one or two kids or are a couple of friends it's very well suited, like having a mini apartment.Gorgeous garden out the back of the hotel, it's really tranquil while being right near the centre of town.Great tasty breakfast done really attentively. The hosts and staff are extremely helpful, friendly & flexible and do everything to make you comfortable with a warm welcome too.I've stayed here a few times over the years & it's always been ideal.
